My 1993 dodge spirit air conditioner was changed to use new r134 refrigerant a few years ago. It is still blowing somewhat cool air, but not cool enough for July weather. I have purchased gauge for checking charge and refrigerant. But the port I assumed to be low port for adding does not fit the gauge (too large). The other port is much too small. Or maybe I am looking at wrong port altogether. Suggestion?

Why won't the air conditioner blow air?

The very first thing you need to do is to check for fuses or say faulty fuse. Secondly check fan which starts along with air conditioner, it might be manually switched off or the fan may have been clogged. Also reason can be lack of refrigerant - charge your air conditioner with refrigerant. Last thing you need to check is cooling coil - the cooling coil may freeze if there is no refrigerant in the system.

1993 Dodge Spirit Promble, died, lost power,We checked, air filter, sparked plugs, gas line fuse, roter cap, belts, battery, prime it,gas line link age, new gas, seems to firer, but acts as if its not geet

If you expect you old reliable to maintain perfect tune-up status after TWO years, you are expecting too much, it could be many small things. Do a complete inspection before changing so many parts.

1993 dodge spirit heater fuse

The heater is NOT actuated by a fuse, the fan is. ]But if the fan blows, the electrical part is OK, then it must be the heater door that switches from the cold air to the hot one, or 2) the heater core is not receiving enough hot coolant.

Does anyone know if a 1999 Dodge caravan 4 cylinder , takes R14 or R134a, my air conditioner is blowing hot and I wanted to see if I can fix it with a bottle of r134.

You should be able to use r134 without any problems but if you have a leak in the system it won't stay cold long.Depending on the size of the leak if any will determine how long it stays cold like if you have a really small leak it might stay cold for a few days or maybe even a week if the leak is bigger might be cold for just hours or like one day.You might not even have a leak as the vehicle is 11 years old and may just need recharged.

Air Condition

Start with this test: Is the cooling fan for the radiator running as it should? it comes on at around 225 degrees Fahrenheit.

AC is not working

Sounds like the A/C system just needs to be recharged. When was the last time you had this done? Just take it in to your mechanic and he can do it for you and if that's not it for some reason, then he will be able to find the problem but most likely you need more freon added.

Not getting cold air out of A/C

Freon is low, go to walmart and buy a R134 kit with guage attached (not very expensive. Connect it to the low pressure side of the A/c system (don't worry the connection won't fit on the high pressure side) Read the guage on the kit and add as neccessary. It truly is that simple.

AIr conditioner doesn't come on

There are pressure sensors in the refrigerant plumbing that can prevent the system from starting if system pressure is low. If any of these are loose or unplugged the compressor will never engage. The compressor clutch also has a connector that can be unplugged also.

Air conditioner

You might be losing A/C R134. You can buy a test kit and new R134 at a parts and the tster will tell you how much R134 you have in your system and you can recharge it at the same time if you need it --Good Luck
