What could cause a 95 Ford Explorer to turn over but not start? It could be a lot of things causing it not to start. If it is turning over it could be the alternator or carburetor causing it not to start. Sounds like the starter. The faint click would be the starter solenoid, trying to operate starter. Have it tested.

You may have a bad clutch disc or pressure plate. You may have a bad transmission. Have you checked the master cylinder? I guess it may be a release bearing. Has this been going on ever since you changed to a 5 speed?

Turn the crank pulley make sure the engine is not siezed

This happened to me on a 95 Integra GSR and the entire starter did not need to be replaced, just the solenoid pieces. They get old and worn down and the plunger no longer makes a good connection with them, hence the "click". Replace the solenoid panels and sand the plunger and your good as new. You can find instructions for this on the net, just do a search for it.

Definitely sounds like it's time to replace the starter. To verify make sure your getting 12v on the small gauge wire at the starter while trying to crank. If you have power at that wire while cranking replace the starter.

The wiring diagrams for the 95 Accent do not show any OEM (original equipment manufacture) 'anti-theft' systems.... this does not preclude the possibility that an After Market system was installed.

hi you need someone to pinpoint where the click is coming from as for the air escaping there is no air involved in starting any cars so a faint clicking is its a bad contact usually a relay but on most cars are not under the bonnet which makes me think a loose connection are the ignition lights still bright when you are trying to turn it over or do the lights go dim or nearly out if so also check your battery leads for tightness and earth leads yates210456
