The only reasons the Computer [PCM] to have to be reset is either the power has been disconnected or it's memory been erased, just running out of fuel would not cause this.
Depending on your State's requirments, you should have been given a print-out of the cause for rejection. You should have the vehicle"s computer scanned to find the problem system[s], E-vap - o2 sensors - converter - etc. thats not letting the system reset and repair this.
They scanned the computer, the catalyst (not ready), the O2 Sensor (not ready) and the Evap (not ready) are the monitors keeping my car from passing inspection. Is there any more you can tell me with that additional information?
First a question - is the truck engine running a little cool ? You should be able to tell this by the tempature gage = it should read about 200 degrees. If it's not reaching proper tempature, the monitors may not reset [ this could be happening without setting a running cold code ], running the truck with a scanner attached will give a proper reading. If everthings ok with the tempature then continue on. --- If the computer codes aren't being erased when they scan it, then either you are looseing power to the computer when the igntion is turned off [ the shop should be able to dertermine this easy ], or the computer may be faulty. The monitor for the o2 sensors or the converter may not reset if it had a faulty o2 sensor [s], it wouldn't affect the e-vap monitor. I'm afraid your going to have it checked out in futher detail as there are several items involved.
I am having the same problem with my 2007 Tahoe not ready an we have drkbe if for 300 miles an still not ready. We r at the end of the rope on what to do next to get it to pass inspection.
