I'll need to know approximately how long it was overheating before you became aware of the fact and about how far and fast did you go.

Need add add antifreeze half antifreeze and water to raise coolant boiling point. replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.wait until engine cool then try starting it up.depends on how long you drove car when engine over heated.if you turn off engine soon as it over heated no harm done.if you kept on driving and engine die of lack of cooling, and car wont crank you could have blown head gasket warped or cracked cylinder head.

Car wont start after overheating

If the engine does not crank over then you may have bad head gaskets. Water may have entered the cylinders and is causing a hydrolock condition. You will need to manually try to turn the engine. If you cannot make it move, remove the spark plugs to let the water escape from the cylinders.

99 ford windstar will crank but wont start after over heating?

While overheating may be the issue, does the exhaust emit a steam-like cloud or sweet smell? There is a part which cuts off power to the fuel pump. This part is called an Inertia sensor. If a door or the hood is slammed, it can activate.

It is usually behind a front floor kickpanel and has a reset button on it. Read the Web for articles showing photos.

Wont crank, running hot, heater blows cold air

Hi Angela. it sounds like you have a belt proble causing your alternator to not charge your battery AND your water pump and fan to not cool properly. Inspect your belts first. If you have more questions please ask me!

Changed timing belt water pump and radiator now car starts and seemed to run fine. drove it about 15 mins. then it started to overheat, then the valves started knocking and the car shut off. when i pulled...

it overheated to the point of engine noise, i would do a compression check, it is most likely a head gasket.
when you filled the radiator did you wait for the thermostat to open and fill it again?

1990 prelude si wont start battery is good plugs are good d-cap is good it overheated and died i managed to get it started and now it wont start could it be my thermostat is bad?

If you overheated it, and then drove it long enough that the engine died, Your engine hay have a bad head gasket, or the engine is now bad. .fill up the coolant in the radiator (water) leave the cap off, and try to crank the engine up, if it tries to push the water out, the engine is bad. A bad thermostat isnt going to keep it from running, although it may be bad also.
