Hope you didn't do permanent damage. When was the Transmission last serviced? Fluid flushed and filter replacement? I would do that and see how it is. Most of the time with Trannys that is the trouble. Do those to things and watch the difference.

1995 3.3L voyager stalls when downshifting

i could be wrong here but sounds like the toque converter when locked up don't want to let go when you hit the brake or downshift.it can be a solenoid or a control valve sticking.you can either try changing filter and fluid are try adding some lucas trans oil to it at the local auto store.

Check engine is on and the car stutters

go to any kragen or autozone parts store, they will run the test for trouble code that turned light on for free, tell them u want an OBD 2 trouble code test, then post the code here.

Stalling issue

Autozone will do a free scan I'm told on 96' and newer. May be an inconvienience, but also save lots of time & money. If it comes up oxygen sensor or some inexpensive part, grab it while your there & change it. Let us know what you find out.
