We have a 2002 Trailblazer and today the check gage light come on and it read to turn engine off. When we were moving it was fine ,but when we stopped at a red light or in traffic it read the same thing. Also the oil meter in the dash was flipping out going from good to bad. We check oil and it is full, So what could be the problem?

Check gages means that one of the gages is reading an abnormal reading, like hot engine oil pressure issues, charging system voltage, pay attention next time it happens to the readings on the gages for something out of the normal

Oil sending switch needs replaced.

Check gauges warning means the engine is either hot or has low oil pressure, scan all the gauges when you see this message.

Hello: It means to look at the gages, Low oil pressure, high coolant temp, low fuel, low voltage. Basically to get your attention to check the gages.

It sounds like the stepper motor that drives the gauge is going bad, this is a common problem. There are vendors on E-bay that service instrument clusters, if you are willing to remove it from the vehicle.

i had a similar issue today, but it was after an accident. I hit a dog, a very large dog. Anyway, the battery ran out from my having my hazards on, and then the key got stuck in the vehicle. No power, no turning over etc. The tow truck guy boosted the battery, and then pushed in (with a long screwdriver) the switch that is under the steering wheel. He wiggled the sterering wheel a bit as well, and voila, out came the key. this is a feature that GM put in their vehicles. Very common problem, and once power to vehicle it spits out the key.

clean throttle body...make sure disconnect battery first

go buy a engine code puller, make sure its for your year and brand of truck and plug it in. It will blink a code. then take the code and look at the engine code decoder in a manual or on the internet and it will tell you whats going on with your truck. It can be anything from just an oxygen sensor to the camshaft screwing up. It can be small or big in other words

Check gauge light can come on for a number of different things, from Low fuel to low oil pressure to high engine temperatures. When the light comes on check all the gauge's and see whats causing it, one or more of the gauge's will be showing an issue, Low fuel or low oil pressure, Low battery power. Any of the mentioned things can cause it... Figure out whats causing it then you can remedy the situation...

i have 2003 trailblazer ltz 153 000 mileage i have code po440 .i changed gas cap and turned off the chech engine light... i made 300 miles and it was good and today morning i drove a mile and light turned on ..... what do i have to fix ...thanks
