If you are driving in slick conditions on snow and ice or on wet pavement, this could be NORMAL OPERATION. The lights are coming on to let you know that the Traction Control System (TCS) and the Antilock Brake System (ABS) is actively correcting a wheel slip condition.

If this is happening on dry pavement, and you are not driving like a maniac, (making the wheels slip and slide) then there is possibly a problem with one of your wheel speed sensors that is making your TCS and ABS computers "think" that there is a wheel slipping. You will have to scan your computer system and watch the wheel speed sensor data to find out which one is malfunctioning.

Looking at buy this car but been told traction control light stays on. Is this a big problem?? Hyundai Grandeur XG 2000

Depends if the Traction control light being on means traction control is off or on. If it is ON no problem. Best to check for a bad switch.

PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTIONBefore diagnosing ABS/TCS, perform a comprehensive visual inspection of system as follows.Check ABS/TCS wiring harness connectors for looseness. Check harness routing; pay particular attention to wheel speed sensor wiring harness routing. Check fuses No. 1D, 5B and 6B in instrument panel fuse block. Check fuses No. 1 and 2 in underhood fuse block. Check brake fluid level in master cylinder reservoir. Check brake fluid level in Pressure Modulator Valve (PMV) assembly reservoir. Ensure parking brake is fully released. Ensure parking brake switch is functioning properly. Always perform ABS/TCS system functional check before using DIAGNOSTIC CODE CHARTSThe EBCM/EBTCM has self-diagnostic capability, which can detect system failures. Fault codes stored by EBCM/EBTCM can be displayed using Tech 1 scan tester. There are no provisions for flash code diagnostics.Begin ABS/TCS diagnosis with PRE-DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION procedure. If failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, perform necessary repairs, and proceed with ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 .If no failures are found during pre-diagnostic inspection, go to ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK. See Fig. 5 . The ABS/TCS FUNCTIONAL CHECK will either indicate ABS/TCS is functioning properly or direct technician to various diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic charts, symptom diagnosis or BRAKE warning light diagnosis.CHART D - TRACTION OFF WARNING LIGHT ON CONTINUOUSLY & NO DTC SET (BUICK WITH UH8 OR U2A INSTRUMENT CLUSTER)Circuit DescriptionWhen ignition switch is first turned to RUN position, EBTCM goes through a self-test, which lasts 2-4 seconds. During self-test, EBTCM commands TRACTION OFF indicator warning light on. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) can also command EBTCM to set a Code 75 which will illuminate TRACTION OFF indicator.Traction control switch is located either on instrument panel center trim plate or driver's front door trim panel. I have a 2003 hyundai elantra. Both the ABS and TCS lights are on. I don`t know what to do.

This is most likely a problem in your ABS control module. Have it checked, after you check the brake pads for wear. The TCS warning will sometimes come on when the ABS brakes fail to function correctly or the pads are worn too far. This is caused by a brake not releasing as it should or if the caliper is extending too far to properly stop the vehicle. I would not delay in having this checked out as it could lead to brake failure.

Abs and tcs lights on what do they stand for?

ABS stands for anti lock brake system.
TCS stands for traction control system.

I recommend having your abs system diagnosed for faulty sensors, control module, etc. With the abs light on the traction control system is designed to disable because it utilizes the abs system to automatically help control your vehicle in loss of traction situations.

Tcs/abs lights keep coming on after I had the two sensers replaced on the frount wheels allso now the break light comes on wile driving. the car is a xg350L

The tcs/abs and brake lights are all on the same warning circuit. First i would check the brake fluid level and make sure it is topped off, next i would have the problem codes read and see if it helps you pinpoint the issue. If the light sometimes come on and sometimes are off i would suspect connection problems in the wiring. hope this helps
