do this the oil is turning black due to sludge build up in the motor. change the oil and filter buy 1 quart of rislone come in an quart bottle like oil use this in place of 1 regular quart of oil. drive for about 250 miles then change oil and filter again this will remove all sludge build up in your engine. then your oil will stay clean for a normal interval with out turning black.
i use this in any car i buy and it always works.

A typical automobile holds 4-5 quarts of oil.....Depends on the size of motor. If changing yourself, Drain out all oil, change filter, put oil plug back in. Put 3- 31/2 quarts back into car. put oil cap on and start car. Let run for 2-3 minutes then shut back off. Wait for a few. Pull out dipstick wipe, put back in then pull out a second time...Now you know how much you need to top off level.

4 quarts, 5 with filter change according to the book. Rule of thumb, buy 5 and once you drain and replace the filter, start by putting 3 and a half quarts in and check the level. If it's between the marks start the motor and run for 5 minutes then let it sit for 5 minutes and recheck the level. Top off half a quart at a time till you get the oil level between the full and add marks.

The most these trucks take is six and a half U.S. quarts of oil.The safest way to know for sure is to drain all the oil out, remove and install a new oil filter, then install five quarts of your preferred oil.Start the vehicle up and let it run for thirty seconds, then turn it off.Pull the dipstick out and check the level with the engine not running, then top off the oil as necessary.Run it for five minutes to verify that there are no oil leaks, Then Happy Motoring!!! Between 4 and 6 quarts or so..
Put 4 in and start he motor.. This will fill the new oil filter for a true reading.. Then start checking it as you add more to top it off..

if you have a 1ZZ engine

4.2 quarts, 4.4 quarts with oil filter change

if you have the 2ZZ engine (XRS model) it is

4.4 quarts, 4.6 quarts with oil filter change

Your owners manual will reflect a lesser quantity that Toyota has since revised.

First off, When you say the wrong oil in, do you mean a quart of the wrong weight of oil such as 5w30 and the vehicle calls for 10W30? or do you mean you used synthetic oil mixed in conventional oil. If you added one can or less of the wrong weight oil, then I probably wouldn't worry about it until your next oil change. If you added synthetic oil into conventional oil then do the following.

You need to get under the car and look for the oil pan which should be directly below your motor. Put a large container that would hold at least 8 quarts of oil under the oil pan and use a wrench and remove the drain plug allowing all of the oil to drain into the pan. Once all drained, you might as well change the oil filter and add fresh oil to your vehicle. If you have never done it before, it is fairly simple in the regal but buy the oil filter so you know what your looking for. I believe the filter is on the front of your motor. Make sure you put a ring of oil on the seal of the new filter before installing and then spin it clockwise to put it on. Lastly re-insert the drain plug and fill the motor with 4 quarts of oil(expecting to add total of 5 quarts). Start the car for about 30 seconds and shut it off and check the oil level. if low add the 5th quart. Check under the car for any oil leaks. Not a hard fix. Good luck.
