Stalls when you come to a stop warm?? If this is the case and it restarts after a few minutes then you need to replace the Pick-up and amplifier on the distributor.

I would compression check the cylinders first as the head may be warped due to overheating.
The inertia will only trip if the vehicle was stopped very suddenly.
We have taken the following actions to correct the problem (with no success):
1) replaced fuel pump (I believe unnecesarily)
2) replaced temperature probe on top of engine block (also no apparent impact on problem)
3) repaired leaking o-rings for heater inside vehicle (coolant was leaking onto electrical connectors - all connectors were disconnected and cleaned, reconnected)
4) replaced battery
I don't know if there is an automatic theft shut-off on these cars that disables the car after a short drive - I haven't seen any definitive literature on this.
Sounds like something is overheating then and possibly a sensor. Not familiar with Rovers but might be a problem with the CAS and/or CPS which tells the ECU the motor is running and when to fire. Also maybe the IAC is bad and when you go from throttle to idle it can't control it and allows it to die.
IS the time off by chance? you could have changed the timing when you out the distributor back in. Did you gap the plugs correctly? Are the plug wires routed to the proper position.
use 15w-40 for the engine, ATF for the gearbox and 80w-90 for the diffs and transfer box. engine and gearbox have dipsticks for the levels, the diffs and transfer box have removable plugs for level checking, fill until the fluid comes out the level plug.
Check the fuel pressure when the vehicle is cold and compare it with when it's hot.Also check the fuel return dump valve , that this isn't returning too much fuel.
Check if the window sticks while moving , this will indicate a fault on the window channel or winder mechanism.If the window stops suddenly it is either the switch or the motor , the switch can be taken out and stripped and cleaned easily.
