CHUGGING FEELING MY 88 TEMPO IS CHUGGING WHEN YOU LET UP ON THE GAS GOING 55 MPH. WHEN YOU GO 35 MPH THE CHUGGING IS WORSE AND SOMETIMES STALLS. IT HAS NEW PLUGS, NEW FUEL FILTER AND THE FUEL INJECTORS WERE JUST CLEANED OUT. ANY IDEAS WHAT IT COULD BE?

My 1988 Ford Temp has a chugging problem. As long as the accelerator is down it seems to run OK, but when coasting or maintaining a speed it will chug. I dies at least 2-3 times per drive especially when stopped at an intersection. It will usually start right up and sometimes will begin running as if nothing is wrong. It seems to get worse as well when fuel is low. Any ideas on what to start checking. Thanks

I had a very similar problem. I work at a ford dealership so, I had a tech look for codes. He found a trouble code, He took my 'MAF' mass air flow censor apart and cleaned it (it had some gunk on it). He then disconnected the battery to reset the computer then, reconnected it. Problem solved! more power, starts better, runs better even better mpg. remember to unhook the battery to reset computer and when you do, hold the brake pedal down for about a minute to drain the power from all the capacitors before you reconnect the battery. Hope this helps good luck, Sean

1994 Oldsmobile 88 Olds stalls around turns

You either have a broken gas tank fuel pump well baffle or the fuel gauge is incorrect and you really are about to run out of gas. Both requires the fuel tank assembly be pulled out of the car and the baffle checked around the fuel pump or the fuel pump replaced if the baffle is ok.

1994 ford tempo; vehicle upshifts late, won't shift until 35-40 mph after high reving fro 35 mph, then again at 65 mph after high reving from 55 mph to 65 mph.

Sounds like your transmission is on the fritz. Try changing the fluid and filter see if that helps. If that doesnt try a can of anti slip from any good parts place (Napa). If this dosent help it's time for a rebuild on the transmission

You got a problem a sense on the accerlator .Or on the air intake senser. If it's not that I would put gas cleaner in the tank. That would be the cheaps thing to try. Buy your gas at walmart and in the insle that has the tech gas cleaner and buy it there ,it will install it has you pump.
