00 chev silverado 4.3, 5 speed 4x4 runs very good but, after you shift and give it gas you feel a little surging mostly in 3-5 gear . Has new tuneup and gas filter. No engine light is on. has low miles on truck. and starts good and idles perfect.

Surging is usually at the throttles and idle air control motor. Cleaning them usually takes care of this problem. I haven't worked on bikes since the 80's. Surging back then was always dirty carbs. I am assuming that the new bikes are fuel injected and have an IAC motor.

sounds a little like a cruise control problem. they used to have a centering adjustment that kept the speed within a range. If the range somehow shifted to the high end this would cause your surge. it would be a screwdriver slot on the outside of the case.cw increase ccw decrease. yours is set too high or cw. I work the screw back and forth several times in case dirt entered the cruise module.
you can,,BUT you're gonna have to replace the intake and a whole lot of stuff on the motor you're installing, most things will interchange from old motor BUT not all. you will have to buy all the other stuff, either new or used,,,but it is possible!
The years of 1996 to 2002 with the engine code L35. Just becareful that the year 2002 is the change over year from L35 to LU3.
The L35 fuel system is the SCPI (Sequential Central Port Injection)
The LU3 fuel system is the MPFI (Muilti Port Fuel Injection)
Good luck and hope this Helps.
if the truck has a locking converter goin bad it will surge at steady speeds such as 55 mph the converter will lock and unlock causing you to feel an surging
swng,
1) Is the service engine soon light ever on when engine is running?
2) Per your description I would look at the ECT sending unit. It sends coolant temperature information the the Engine Control Module for proper fuel delivery for cold engine start. It may have lost its calibration.
Let me know.
