Battery and Brake light on, fans stop

My 93 Geo Storm (1.6L, auto) started lighting up the 'battery' and 'brake' lights on the dashboard. When that happens - 1) the dashboard lights get brighter, 2) the a/c compressor seems to cut off, 3) the fan motor (a/c,heat) shuts off. We just replaced the alternator and the 1st 10 miles were fine, then the a/c compressor stopped, and both lights came on again (battery & brake). It seems something is making the alternator overcharge. Now, both the radiator fans (2) and the heater, a/c fan do not work. No blown fuses. very odd. I am trying to find a wiring diagram to check the relays, etc. Any ideas?

Seems as though I'm having the very same problem on my 91 Geo Storm (1.6L, manual). At first the battery and brake lights on the instrument cluster started flickering then eventually stayed on. Now I have no a/c or heater functions not even the blower motor. Alternater/battery were recently replaced, I also had them both removed and tested good. I do not have any blown fuses. What do I check next??

Engine was running too hot, thermostat s/b 180, it was 195, antifreeze solution had too much water, this caused the radiator thermal switch to trip. I think the alternator was either bad, or the excessive heat made it draw too much. Two separate problems.

Can you tell me what wires should have power in the brake light switch behind the pedal? 94 geo tracker

Brake light bulbs are illuminated within the rear combination light assemblies whenever the brake pedal is pressed. This happens because of the brake light switch (also known as the stop lamp switch) located above the brake pedal. Pressing the the brake pedal closes the internal contacts of the brake light switch which transfers power from the battery to the combination light assembly. For example, in a '94 Geo Tracker the STOP/HORN fuse (15A) supplies power to the brake switch via a green wire and then to the combination light assemblies via a green/white white wire whenever the brake switch contacts close. These are the only two wires for the brake switch. The combination light assemblies on the other hand have four wires; brake light input (green/white wire), tail light input (red/blue wire), turn signal input (green wire) and ground (black wire). If all of the brake lights are inoperative, chances are the brake switch has failed or the power-supply fuse has blown. This is because it is highly unlikely for all brake light bulbs to fail simultaneously (although not impossible). Dashboard lights out and also brake lights. does that mean the battery needs to be changed on 1998 Toyota rav 4x4?

If all your fuses are good, start looking at your ignition switch. It's the one thing all those circuits have in common.

You have a brake light switch attached to your brake pedal, may be loose or bad.Read what it says,if bad light will stay on,easy to replace, just disconnect electrical connector, then unscrew nut, then remove, the end piece clicks on and off,I have a 85 Nissan 720 truck, have replaced mine before years ago. My 1992 Geo Storm 2S brake lights will not cut off even when car is turned off.

Have peak above the brake peddle. You will find the brake light switch. The switch has popped up too far. Adjust the switch.

1991 geo prizm, battery light and brake light in the dash stay lit when you start the car. The car still runs fine just the dash warning lights stay on. The alternator was replaced maybe three years ago,...

Yes, it could be. Or you can check your battery. And try adding brake fluid to your master cylinder. That sometimes will cause the brake light to come on. Or check your emergency brake. Hope this helps, James Booth.

I have a 93 Geo Storm I just bought and I dont have brake lights in it for some reason... I was gonna check the fuses but the map is missing does anyone out there have a fuse map they can copy and send to...

The brake light fuse is one up from the bottom right side. I doubt it's the fuse, because the computer also needs that fuse to run the engine.
