Battery and Brake light on, fans stop

Engine was running too hot, thermostat s/b 180, it was 195, antifreeze solution had too much water, this caused the radiator thermal switch to trip. I think the alternator was either bad, or the excessive heat made it draw too much. Two separate problems.

Turns off while driving

May be a long shot but i had a car that would do that...would just die and usually wouldnt start back up. Until it set. See if it has a map sensor. If so next time it dies pop the hood and unplug it. Try to start it. If it does map is bad. Cost me $500 in parts to figure that one out.

I have a 1993 geo storm.it has 1.6 lt 4 cylinder 5 speed.well it jumped time.bent the valves.so I got new used head.put new timing belt,water pump & spark plugs. I installed every thing just as bo

Does it have compression? Does it briefly run when an ether spray is used. If there is a distributor do the plug wires go to the right plugs? An engine needs a decent cranking speed, compression, timing, the correct amount of fuel and a good spark in order to run. You claim fuel, spark and timing... When building an engine it is important to empty the hydraulic tappets of oil so they don't hold the valves open.

Spark to cylinder but appears to be dead new head does not run right

Was the same fault there before you changed the cylinder head? If so, that would point to piston problems on cylinder No4. Are you able to do a compression test on the engine? If there's piston/ring trouble on the 4th cylinder that could cause a misfire because of poor compression. The other thing that springs to mind is that there's something amiss with the valve clearances on cylinder No 4. I'm not familiar with your car - does it have an overhead camshaft? Unfortunately when refitting an overhead camshaft after a rebuild, some owners have managed to bend a valve. This usually happens because the engine has been turned during disassembly/rebuild and the timing marks have not been aligned when refitting the camshaft. This results in a valve in contact with a piston and when the camshaft is fitted and torqued down the valve becomes bent. I think your problem may lie in either a bent valve or incorrect valve clearances.

Does a distributor from a 1993 geo storm gsi 1.8 fit a 1993 geo storm base?

most probably not, the GSi has a different head. Base has a 12 valve, GSi has a 16V. Check for part numbers. Do you need just the cap or the entire distributor?

93 Geo Storm standard Transmission 1.6 Engine

bad fuel, is it old? fuel. needs tuneup, air cleaner and spark plugs , at least. if the starter cranks fast and dont' start, but does push started. that means the spark is weak when cranking, and marginal spark plugs can do that. this car is really (under Geo snake skins) a an Isuzu Impulse and Isuzu is defunct there too. (double bad) now my real guess......analysis... im not sure your order stated. the engine would not crank over with a key before the new switch or after? and "starters good", does that mean , it still fails to crank start with key but the hot wiring of starter does? try this: tell use what happens when you turn the key, is best. I turn the key, and i get the dash board to light up, lots of lights. and the CEL LaMP GLOWS. the CEL lamp, means the ENGINE brain is alive. then you turn the key to cranks (start) position.
  1. nothing happens.
  2. it only clicks
  3. it cranks slowly,
  4. it cranks fast, just like a new car does. fast. cranking.
1,2,3,4.? and does jumper cable starts work>? if this works , your battery is low. , discharged or dead, or bad. if the battery keeps going low, its bad, or the alternator fails to charge the battery, or you have phantom drains , discharging it as you sleep. my guess, (based on most common) is #3, slow cranks, and spark plugs are long since gone.(fouled and gaps no longer in spec>)

How to remove the ignition lock cylinder from a 93 geo storm

is the lock assembly in the car or out? there are 2 jobs here, removing the assembly and after that, attacking the lock it self.??????? any lock smith can rebuild the lock, proper it has pins that are pressed out. it can even be rekeyed. the remove assembly is covered in the FSM, no books? alldata.com covers that. it really is an Isuzu. impulse. my guess is its job 1, assembly out. so toss coin lands on job1 (on most cars, steering wheel must be removed) once that is done, its obvious from there, right? that clamp there with the antitamper screws? then must be removed. and replaced new.. a rare car , and even more one that runs.... here is the online FSM answer
  1. Remove the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the steering wheel.
  3. Remove the combination switch assembly.
  4. Turn the key to the OFFposition, depress the retaining pin and remove the ignition lock cylinder from the switch.
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition switch.
  6. Remove the snapring and spacer collar from the steering shaft.
  7. Disconnect the back drive cable from the ignition switch.
  8. Remove the ignition switch bolts and the ignition switch from the steering column.
now back in?
  1. Install the ignition switch to the steering column and tighten the bolts.
  2. Connect the back drive cable to the ignition switch.
  3. Install the spacer collar and the snapring to the steering shaft.
  4. Connect the electrical connector to the ignition switch.
  5. Install the lock cylinder into the switch.
  6. Install the turn signal switch screws and the turn signal switch.
  7. Install the four screws and the coil assembly to the turn signal switch.
  8. Connect the coil assembly wiring harness to the turn signal switch.
  9. Install the two piece steering column cover and the two piece steering column cover screws.
  10. Raise the steering column and install the upper steering column mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
  11. Install the left lower dash trim panel and tighten the lower dash trim panel screws.
  12. Install the lap air deflector and tighten the lap air deflector screws.
  13. Install the knee pad assembly and tighten the five screws, the bolt and the nut attaching the assembly.
  14. Install the engine hood opener cable.
  15. Install the engine hood opener and tighten the two screws.
  16. Connect the electrical connector to the cigar lighter bezel and install the bezel.
  17. Connect the electrical connector to the left switch bezel and install the bezel.
  18. Install the steering wheel.

Car accessories

The electrical system should handle the type of lighting you've installed. Not good practice to wire all of them directly to car's battery. If you run these lights for long periods of time, with engine off heavy load for your battery. you should hard wire to your fuse box and I would install relay switch for our extra lighting.

How much freon do i put in

should A/C professional address this issue, it's not for your do it yourself project or repair. if u are having to add refrigerant to your car's A/C system, trying to find a leak can be very difficult. Every car has a specific amount of refrigerant, so you can get the most out of your cooling system. Example 26.48 oz. is the exact amount of refrigerant for 1990 geo storm. If you randomly add 1 16oz can of refrigerant, thinking this will make cooling system super cold! Wrong adding too much refrigerant works the same as your original problem System low or empty of refrigerant. This is best done by the PROS. Hope my answer works for you,

My 93 geo storm will run for a couple seconds with engine start then quit, is there an anti theft switch under dash.??

STORM = ISUZU. Isuzu Impulse, a very rare car. 70k made, 3k in Canada. they hand 2 Isuzu engines, DOHC, 1.6 and 1.8L is car a daily driver, when did it last run right? is fuel fresh.... ever do a tuneup on it? spark parts, and filters. can you keep engine running with a fast right foot, (a key answer) the stock car drawings ,show no IMMO , nor any alarm. but the operator guide can be had,...... the real question is why it stalls. you crank it it starts and stalls. we do simple test to find this, this car has very simple EFI so. is easy. 1: engine compression above 150PSI x4. 2: 12vdc running, if the voltage falls below 11vdc, running fix that first. 3: spark spark good at all cylinders, test it, get a tune up. 4: fueling, too much or too little and it stalls. the fueling tests are a long story and ill wait till you get this far.

I have a 93 geo storm wit high idle when cranked an even while running fo to slow down again wit the idle high what do i do?

i cant understand that but got BAD idle. there are different idle speeds, for hot ,warm and cold engine. and the PCM (ECU) regulates idle with valve called ISC. bad idle can be 1 of 2 things. ISC sticking. or engine runs so bad the ECU can NOT control idle. clean the ISC, if not that then its a big job, to find true cause. ASK ! one is finding air leaks.aka, vacuum leaks.
