ck the timing belt open up the oil cop see if the valves are moveing crank it over if it cranks over fast its a timing belt

For the age of this car it is a combination of both the fuel filter and pump, i owned one several years ago and found that the gas tanks are prone to rust inside, if you have replaced the pump and filter you may want to drop the tank again and check the screen on the pump if it is brown you have rust in the tank: another problem i had ( if you bought an oem pump ) they tend to slip out of position, you can tie the pump it place so it doesn't move......

Most engines don't fair well under extreme heat. It's apparent you might have some electrical issue's. Your rpm's or mph arm going up and down could be faulty speed sensor would cause arm problem. I think you may have more than one problem, the car shutting off is due to engine over-heating. Check cooling system-thermostat, water pump, radiator, engine fans and coolant temp sensor and fan relay's. It could be as simple as blown radiator hose.

Hi Keith: Sounds like it could be time for a tune up. Changing the spark plugs would probably be my first step.

well first is , is it engine misifre or transmission shudder. did you check fluid levels yet? AFT? are spark plugs fresh, not 10 years old>?

lots and lots of reasons, guessing. over 50 (bad engine?) but does it crank?, no car starts unless it's cranked or like my car, push started or gravity started (a 6sp m/t) if engine fails to start , and cranks robustly (fast starter motor) then 1: never tuned up, running 10 year old spark parts. 2: blow fuse. check fuses. 3:; lost spark, check spark. 4: flooding or loss of fueling. to unflood any engine, crank at wideopen throttle (oper, guide tells you that) 5: timing belt not changed at 60,000 miles it will fail, and will not start or start have like 1/4 power. 6: lost compression in or more cylinders.? or get it serviced? if all that is too much work? or confusing.

that is true. but some cars running obd1 , can be scanned,. (i have one) like all GM cars and even older, , some ford, , Honda's . Toyota;s but this car is GEO, (underdog, but is really what. a Isusu.) Isuzu's cars are mostly not raced or sold here now. so who's going to make scanner for such a rare car and engine and EFI? there is no OBD1 standard, each company uses a unique design. then,... so... OBD2, in 1996 a USA invention is a standard and all tools work. so.... what you have is the old blink codes. wink wink... all OBD1 cars work like this (or very close) you connect a jumper wire, and the CEL lamp flashes codes. so is the CEL stuck on? running. must come on key on, bad lamp or bad ECU. you can check out Isuzu Impulse Example storm post..OBD1991 (USA) To put the ECM (Engine Control Module/Ignition Control Module/Engine Computer) into diagnostic mode, where it will flash codes at you using the "MIL" (Malfunction Indicator Light or "Check Engine" light), short pins 1 and 3 of the ALDL/OBD1 connector using a paperclip. When you then turn the key into the on position, the MIL should flash once, then pause a bit, then flash twice. That means code "12." If there are other codes, they will be flashed out as well. DLC jumper storm or Impulse. or diagnostic jumper Impulse. join a Geo storm or inpulse forum and ask for scan tools. they will be custom tools. (or hacked, as i have done)

which engine is it. open hood, see that EPA sticker it tells you which there. interchange short block long block or long + manifolds and all sensor. what engine.?????????

vacuum line is not connected properly or line may be damaged cut or burned. minor issue should be able to hear loud air suction noise

valve cover spark plug grommets need to be replaced. purchase valve cover gasket set should be under 30 bucks depending what engine u have sohc or dohc. If this does correct oil issue to your spark plugs, then u have a much greater problem. bad rings and should rebuild motor

That would be your throw out bearing and will need to replaced along with clutch and pressure plate

I don't believe that power steering pressure switch is an actual part for 1991 Geo Storm.

Heating and A/C Module may need to be replaced.

use a ruler, we cant guess what is under hood of any lumina.
