My 2000 bmw e46 316i on start up it goes up then down on revs and idles at 800rpm with slight fluxtion. when i rev it at idle there is a delay for no more than a second and same on take off i must bring up the revs slightly before take off. could this be fuel pump or throttle problem?

SOURCE: low/poor idle

Here is what you need to do, a cleaning of the intake throttle blade and the idle speed control air-bypass valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours,
Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake

SOURCE: the rev is going up & down on idle & when driving

have you checked your air inlet manifold for any leakages by spraying WD40 around each portall bolted to the cylinderhead gasket, check for vacuum air pipes deterioration.make sure the engine is running first ,then spray WD40 to check that the engine speed should increase.it sounds like your engine is haveing problems breathing due to heavy hydro carbons increasing./and your CO2% is dropping.

SOURCE: bmw 3 series idle problem

Its most likely a timing problem. unfortunatly this can only be done by a computer! So bring it to a dealership or somene in the know with a diagnostic machine.

Wire from computer to battery broke. We fixed the wire. Now the car starts then revs up and down then dies.

ECU has forgotten Throttle Position.

Turn ignition to KOEO for 30 seconds...you may hear throttle clicking fro a few seconds.

Turn ignition completely off . Now start engine...idle should be 800rpm and steady.

If not the Throttle Adaption needs setting ( or your throttle body is dirty of faulty....unlikely if it was OK before.)

Engine 'chuggs' terribly on idle.

Could be a bad injector, miss fire. At this point it's best left to a repair shop.

BMW 318iSE (1999) engine warning light

That sounds like you bought big problems. Oil ights indicate low oil pressure= BIG BUCKS. I would have a qualified repair shop check it out, A shop that specializes in BMW. If you are lucky, maybe the oil sender is just bad. They can also check out the Ck eng light. But the oil light is priority one.

Car rev up and down at startup, also car jerks at release of gas

There is a vacuum leak somewhere in the intake system. A very common problem on these cars is a PCV valve that gets stuck open and replacing that first is very cheap. If that doesn't solve the problem, then you'll have to go hunting. Listening very carefully for a hissing sound in the engine compartment will often lead you to a hose that is off or a gasket that has failed. You can also spray small amounts of aerosol carb cleaner at suspect areas to confirm the leak. The engine will change revs when fed the carb cleaner.

Engine high rev at stop and slowly goes to idle speed.

I've got Hyundai Lantra 1.6 year 2000. It's take time to start when it's hot. When I start my car it revs at about 2k-3k rpm. It also does it when I come to a stop. When I come to a stop it will stay at a higher rpm than that of idle speed. It drives ok when on freeway but uses more petrol. I have changed the water & petrol pump but no luck
