I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado. When the lights are off, the left rear blinker/brake light does not work and the others do. When the parking lights are on, the left/right rear brake lights are constantly on and neither blinker works. When the lights are on, the left rear blinker/brake light work but the right side and third brake lights do not work. The front blinkers always work. Odd... Any suggestions?
I traced my problem to the turn signal switch inside the steering column. You might have to replace that.I traced my problem to the turn signal switch inside the steering column. You might have to replace that.

I have a 2006 Silverado that rear lamps have recently quit working. A turn lamp and backup lamp on opposing sides.
One was from loose socket contacts and the other was oxidation of lamp contacts. You can bend socket contacts closer to make them tighter and clean bulb contacts. It's been several weeks now and all is fine.
i don't know. on my Ford, it canceled speed control
[speed setting] and turned on both brake lights plus the brake safety light at rear window. emergency brake
warning light came on dash when brake fluid was low and when parking brake was on. owners manual my help.
Well usually when the third brake light works and the others don't, the problem is in the turn signal switch. The center brake light is separate from the other two as far as circuits go. The thing that puzzles me is the cruise. It could be something else, because the only way a faulty brake light switch would kill the cruise control is if the switch was stuck on. I think I would check the circuits in and out of the turn signal switch.
I had an issue like this one on a 2007 Colorado. I assume you mean the turn signal indicator inside the truck lights up. It was a bad bulb. think it was the turn signal bulb on the side that is lighting up. As for the gear indication being dim there is more than one bulb that lights them up and one may have blown. I hope this helps.
I've worked on these the first drove me crazy. its the turn signal switch every thing runs thru these. head lights, turn signal, brakes. except the third brake light. it runs directly from the brake switch. go figuare
It sounds like a bad light socket. The brake light and the parking/running/regular part of the socket are shorting out. When you press on the brake petal it's shorting out on the turn signal and sending current to the indicator (arrow) on the dash.. When you use the blinker, it's shorting with the brake light and causing them both to flash...
Check the socket and get back to me with the result.
