92 gmc k2500 4x4 truck has every gear but when put in reverse trans fluid pours out from around front top near front pump seal

What does "it want go" mean? It will not shift into gear, or once in gear it "want" pull? If the latter, do you fill the trans with fluid, let it pump around by shifting through all the gears and then check the fluid level again?

If all other gears work and fluid is full then you may have internal problems , bad reverse clutches or leaking seals internally . you may need a rebuild trans.

No fluids are consumed in any vehicle

If it is low on trans fluid, then most likely
the damage is done already, based on your
description.

If it is low, then at the very least, you repair the leak,
not just add fluid

No movement in any gear: pump failure, or total loss of fluid. R&R, or refill pan and find the leak. If out of fluid, avoid running the engine until the trans is refilled to avoid pump damage. To check for pump failure, check fluid level with the engine off, then start the engine and recheck fluid level. If level does not go down when engine is running, the pump is broken.
Soft shifting, gradual performance degradation: Poor line pressure rise due to leaking boost valve, clogged EPC filter screen, failing EPC solenoid, or worst case: leaky seals throughout. Transgo HD2-C kit fixes first two without removing trans. Seal restorer may fix last problem, but probably R&R.
Put a line pressure gauge (or visit a local trans shop) on the pressure test port and go for a drive to verify proper line pressure. Base pressure at idle in P,N,OD should be around 70psi and around 140psi in R. Max line pressure should be at least 190psi at WOT in 1st or 2nd, 225psi is optimum. If base pressure is low, trans or pump is worn out. If max pressure is low, check EPC solenoid. If reverse is slow to engage, and line pressure does not come up to at least 130psi in reverse, replace the boost valve with a Transgo 0.490" boost valve (easy fix in pan).
Thank you for using fixya and good luck. Transmission failure is common when you have the transmission flushed rather then having it serviced by dropping the transmission pan and letting the fluid drain on it's own.

The seals inside your transmission are bad and leaking by and they don't start to seal until the tranny fluid warms up and swells the seals. To temporarily fix this problem you can pour some brake fluid into your transmission fluid. This will swell the seal in the transmission and it should start working again. This is only a temporary fix however, eventually you will ned to replace or rebuild your tranny. I used this method on a turbo trans 350 and got a year of service out of it that way before I had to replace the tranny. Just do not put too much brake fluid into the tranny, I would recommend one or two capfuls to start with.

Before guessing at transmission problems, check the fluid level (car warmed up, engine running in Park on level ground) and have the PCM scanned for trouble codes FIRST.

Slow, slipping or no reverse: “lo-reverse” clutches are worn out, fluid leak in the reverse apply circuit, or broken sunshell. It is possible to remedy a fluid problem by removing the checkball from its cage in the case in the rear of the trans may help (must remove valvebody), or adding a high-viscosity additive such as Lucas Transmission additive or other seal restorer product. May also have worn boost valve (can replace in the pan).

Just a seal removal tool or a screw driver, pops right out.

Spray fluid may not be the gasket. The word spray scares me it sounds like it could be comming from the pump but you say it olny happens in reverse. I dont know but I was leaking fluid. I chaged the pan seal that did not fix it. I sent my car to a loacl shop for a front seal. did not want to do that all by myself. The man at the shop told me he put a new seal in but it still sprayed fluid. I took it to another shop and he said I needed a new trans pump. NowI have no fluid leaks.

It may be a rear crank seal, or oil from the torque converter (automatic) or the input seal on the transmission. Check your fluid levels in your engine and trans. A visual inspection will help also. you could remove the inspection panel on the bottom of the trans bell housing. As for the clunk I would be leaning towards more of a starter issue for that.

dude ur transmisssion is fried my 92 jimmy had the same problem worked on it a week no sucess u need a new transmission man sorry
