My girlfriend owns a 2003 Mazda 6. A few weeks ago we got some heavy rain and she drove into a puddle that was a little to deep. After she drove the car out she noticed that the idle was a little rough and the check engine light came on. So she brought the car to a local mechanic that told her one of the coil packs was bad. They changed one of the coil packs and the symptoms seem to have gotten a little worse. She went back to get yet another coil pack changed and still no difference. The check engine light is still showing a coil pack. Could it be that they might not have changed the right one? I'm not sure if they even reset the computer so I was going to do that myself to see what happens. What do you think?

I have a corolla and had #4 cylinder misfire also diagnosed at autozone. After changing the spark plugs, problem persisted, along with the same error code, so they recommended changing the spark plug wires, and that is what fixed it. I would have changed the rotor cap too, but was low on dough. Glad that was not the problem.

Sounds like you flooded it not with water but with fuel due to moving car with out warming it up all the way before shutting it off. You can take it to the dealer and get a flash update to prevent this in the future. To deflood remove spark plugs and let sit with fan on them over night to dry out. Replace and start cranking for 15 seconds at a time till she starts up. GL!

If you didn't use the OEM (original parts from dealer) That may be your issue. I've seen it before. (Specifically Nissan's)
If you can, you can Ohm out all of the coil packs and see if they are all similar. (A small difference can set an engine code)
