Coolant system About twice a week, the check coolant level light comes on. I check the coolant and it's always full. Any ideas. Thanks

Couple of things you should try. Check and tighten the screw that holds the engine cover. Cause maybe loosen screws only. Otherwise, change the gasket head cover. That should stop the leak.

Sounds like an air pocket in the coolant system. Those can be a pain, some cars have bleed valves to help. If there is an air pocket, it will seem to be full of coolant, but when the air pocket gets to the heater core it gets stuck there and guess what? No heat, because you won't get any heat unless hot coolant is in the heater core. Old fashioned way is to open the system and keep pouring coolant in at operating temp with heat on full until all the air is pushed out. If it has a bleed valve that can be helpful. Have seen this problem on many vehicles.

thermostat probably sticking.
Autoparts store will scan the computer for you for free.
They will give you the trouble code/s that make the check engine light come on.
You can just google the number they give you if they don't tell you what it is/means.
Should look like P0130 or P1429 and could be more than one trouble code.
The repair should be easy once you have the code because it will tell you what the problem is.

engine running too hot.check coolant level, should be 50/50 antifreeze and water.replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.check antifreeze level in the radiator,coolant level should be just below radiator cap, add coolant to overflow jug,should alway be at the full cold mark.empty coolant overflow jug will allow air be drawed in the coolant system causing overheating.if overheating happens when coming to a long stop.could have faulty engine coolant temperature sensor or bad coolant fan fuse or relay.

First things first. Check your coolant level. If that is up to snuff, then have the engine data scanned, and see if your coolant temp sensor is out of whack. If it reads very low, the pcm will give the fuel management system directions to add alot of fuel. However , as I mentioned before, low coolant can cause the temp sensor to read a cold engine(it usually must be submerged in coolant) and cause the same problem. There are more things to check, but this is the place to start. If you have no luck with these suggestions, get back to me and we'll go furthur. Good luck!

Your vehicle is what...16 years old? Parts do not last forever. I can't see changing the pump twice unless the old one was defective. There is no reason to replace a pump unless it leaks or is noisy. OK, now the low coolant light is on. Is the coolant low? Is the engine running hot? Low coolant sensors have been notorious for failing. If the level is good and it's not overheating you can either remove the indicator and replace it or just disconnect it and routinely check all your fluids (you should be doing that anyhow) once a week. Cars did not have or need that sensor for many years. Gas stations used to check fluids when they actually could afford to have people pump your gas for you. It only takes a few minutes and isn't a difficult task to check everything over now and then.
If you have found the level to be low, re-fill it and check again for leaks. White smoke from exhaust can mean a bad cylinder head gasket as can oil in the coolant or coolant in the engine oil. I've found some vehicles (including one Jeep I own) that will not keep the overflow full but never overheats or has problems. Some head gaskets deteriorate and begin to seep coolant on the outside of the engine. That kind of leak often evaporates on the side of the block and never drips on the ground. Check around the head/block parting line. If you find a crusty white or greenish residue there, run the engine and watch that spot. If it gets damp there, it's leaking. As long as it continues to run well and the temp stays normal, everything should be OK.

did you check the wires to make sure they are not broken anywhere.

If its not low on coolant and the light continues to come on it is the low coolant sensor in the radiator. This sensor is in the plastic side of the radiator and just pops off. These sensors are always a problem and don't always require replacement of the sensor. What happens -especially if you are using red DEX-COOL coolant is that the coolant gets hard and crusty inside the sensor and wont allow the coolant to enter and make contact with the sensor. Simply take the sensor off and blow compressed air or water pressure in it to free it of debris. Easy fix-hope this helps!

Low coolant means just that, find out if the system is really low or the light is receiving a false signal from the low coolant sensor, just check the level in the coolant recovery tank and the make sure the radiator tank is full, if you are low on coolant then check out why, a leak is probable, most likely a water pump or hose related issue, and no a bad thermostat will not in itself turn on the low coolant light unless the engine boils over and the system becomes low. Remember never ever open a radiator cap on a hot engine, you would be surprised how many professional mechanics get burned this way, be careful..
