Recently the Maintenance Required light comes on and blinks for a couple of minutes, then goes off. We put new brakes on the front and we changed the oil and I thought the light would stop, but it's still blinking. Any clue?

The car is telling you that the oil needs to be changed/ the milage has reached the limit for needing to be changed. even if you have changed the oil it will still warn you after 7500 miles to change the oil. To make the light go off, press and hold the knob the resets your milage for 15 secs then turn the key to the on position(dont start the car) then continue to hold the knob in for about 30 secs, release, turn the car off, wait 5 secs, turn car to on position, then back off the start the car it should clear the maintence light.

My name is Dave, any help would be much appreciated! When I turn on the left or right directional indicator from the lever on the steering column it makes a rapid blinking on the control panel, the front...

Hi, I have a couple of questions.
1. were the signals working before you replaced the brake light bulbs, and did you use the recommended bulbs?
2. Do the brake lights work now?

The brakes and signals use the same filaments, so these things are tied together.

If your brakes need changing will your maintenance required light come on?

No the maintenance light comes on at a set mileage interval to remind you that your vehicle will be do for oil or some other scheduled maintenance. Low brakes will not trigger the light. If there is a serious problem with the braking system it will trigger the red brake light on the dash.

Reset maintenance light

If I remember correctly, on the dash you have a select button. Hold the button down then turn the key on, until the maintenance light blinks and goes out. Turn the key off then back on and your light should be out.

2008 Scion TC Warning Light

This is already covered in the owner's manual, but here it is again as a quick reference.

Every 5,000 miles, a "Maintenance Required" light will blink for the first couple seconds after you start your car. It will continue to do so until it is reset. If it is not reset, than it will eventually turn on your "Check Engine" light. The purpose of the maintenance required light is to remind TC owners to change their oil. The factory recommended interval is 5,000 miles, but you can reduce the interval the light will come on to a mileage interval of your choice.

1. Before starting, make sure that the odometer is not on one of the trip mileage odometers but is displaying the standard odometer.

2. With the car off, press and hold down the odometer reset button. While still holding it, start the car.

3. The light should continue to blink for a couple seconds and than disappear. That will reset the light for another 5,000 miles.

4. The following are steps to change the interval in which the maintenance required light comes on. Right after you turn on the ignition while holding the reset button, you'll notice that the odometer display will show 5 bars. Each bar corresponds to a 1,000 miles. As each bar disappears, the interval will increase (0 bars = 5k, 1 bar = 4k). Release the reset button at the interval you desire.
