The Malfunction Indicator Light is coming on & will stay on for several days and then go off again. What would be the cause of this?

Same as the last time you got a MIL lamp on any vehicle

Check for codes,look them up & diagnose the system that
set the codes & then component test

When you start any vehicle motor ALL dash
lights should go out & stay out

You know you have check light on,malfunction
indicator lamp,& should know that you have to check
for codes with a day or two & resolve ALL issues within
a few days to a week or stop using any vehicle that has fault codes

You won't likely get a free code reading at parts store with the ABS
You will need professional scan tool software,then go to
Enhanced Mode,then to the ABS Module, for the codes

Then you need a repair shop with a data base or factory manuals at home to work on it (diagnose)

Blinking check engine lights usually indicate the problem is severe enough that it could be doing damage to the catalytic converter. Typically engine misfires will cause this to happen. Check to see what codes caused the light to come on. Post them here and I'll be happy to help you further

Anytime you have the engine started & any light
stays lite on your dash you have a system malfunction

Any dash light that flashes or stays lite, is a
possible system fault

Shouldn't be using it

You should check for codes & have the vehicle
diagnosed within days, of any Malfunction Indicator
Lamp coming on,on all vehicles

You have a possible ABS Braking System issue

dodge durango cuts off when starting however , when I press on the gas it will stay started whats the issue ? Just had oil & change all fluids checked in may 2014 for a dodge durango . plan on taking a drive from seattle wa to California San Diego is it safe to do so ?

The indicator seems to be the one at fault. For a cross-check why don't you get your tires filled correctly(air pressure) and observe if the indicator still behaves in the same manner............sodeep

Probably is the throttle position sensor is bad. If you through several cycles and the computer does not see a problem then it will clear the codes until the problems exists again. That is why you see the light go out. You probably have a problem with the TPS.
