How do you change the oil on a 2011 sonata?

Changing the oil in a Hyundai Sonata is an easy task that should be performed every 3,000 miles. Follo the below steps to change the oil on your Hyundai Sonata:
1) Ensure the car is parked on a flat surface. Place a drain pan under the engine. Locate the oil pan directly under the engine. The oil pan will be at the very bottom. Now, unscrew the drain plug at the front of the oil pan with a socket wrench. Allow all the oil to drain out into the oil pan. Tighten the drain plug back into the oil pan with a socket wrench.
2) Locate the oil filter in front of the engine. There will be a cut-out in the protective shield where the oil filter is located. Unscrew the oil filter with a strap wrench. Allow the oil to drain into the oil pan. Place the old filter in with the waste oil.
3) Fill the oil filter with fresh engine oil. Screw the filter on to the filter housing by hand. Do not wrench tighten, which could strip the threads of the filter or filter housing. Open the hood for access to the engine compartment. Unscrew the oil cap on the top of the engine.
4) Pour in three quarts of engine oil. Pull the engine oil dipstick out of the dipstick tube and wipe it clean. Push the dipstick back into the dipstick tube. Pull back out and look at the engine oil level. If the oil on the dipstick does not stop between the two marks on the dipstick, pour in a half quart of oil and check the level again. Do not overfill.
5) Start the car and allow it to run for few minutes. Turn the car off and check the oil level once again. Add another half quart of oil if necessary. Ensure the oil cap is back on the engine and the hood is closed. Hope this helps and if you need any parts for your sonata, this site looks like it has cheap prices, free shipping and great reviews http://www.buyautoparts.com/carmodels/Hyundai/Sonata.html

Can I check the oil pressure by my self? Inexprienced female.don't have money to get it checked, oil light has been on for over two weeks. I have put two 1/2 quarts of oil, still fades in and out....

Sweetheart, you have to check the oil with the dipstick under the hood. Read the labels and look in the owners manual. The dipstick has marks on it where the level should be.

Change oil filter

Hello, to change the oil filter try to follow this steps.

1, Lift the Passat with a car jack and place the jack stand underneath it and if don't have use a set of wheel ramps , make sure you brace the front tire so that the car won't roll.

2. Pop the hood and locate the oil filler cap and dipstick Passat cars have the dipstick on the front side of the engine block. Unscrew and remove both the filler cap and dipstick.

3. Gather an oil drip pan, new oil filter, socket or box wrench, filter wrench and cleaning cloths. Slide under your car and locate the drain plug and oil filter. The VW Passat oil filter is on the front side of the engine block. If your Passat is a 1998 or newer, you must remove the lower engine cover for access to filter.

Engine shut off on freeway, pulled to the side, oil life reset itself. Then car wouldn't start, oil pressure gauge went to zero. Check engine light is on

Check your oil level in your engine with the oil dipstick located under the hood. It may have ran out of oil and locked the motor up. Check for oil leaks under the car.

I want to check the engine oil level for previa 2.4 petrol 1995

OIL LEVEL CHECK Every time you stop for fuel, check the engine oil as follows:
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground.
  2. When checking the oil level it is best for the engine to be at operating temperature, although checking the oil immediately after a stopping will lead to a false reading. Wait a few minutes after turning off the engine to allow the oil to drain back into the crankcase.
  3. Open the hood and inspect the level of the engine oil tank. The fluid level on the tank should read between FULL or F and LOW or L.
  4. If the level is below the LOW or L line, remove the cap and add enough engine oil to reach the FULL or F line. Fig. 1: Fill the engine oil tank located under the hood first 90911p07.jpg
  5. Install the oil cap and hand tighten.
  6. After filling the oil tank, remove the engine access hole cover on the drivers side. 7. Remove the engine oil dipstick and wipe it clean.
  8. Reinsert the dipstick, push it in as far as it will go, the pull it out and look at the level on the end.
  9. If necessary, insert more oil through the oil filler cap next to the dipstick, this will completely top off the system. Fig. 5: The oil dipstick has two markings for level check 90911p85.jpg Fig. 6: To fill the crankcase, remove the engine oil filler cap 90911p86.jpg prev.gif next.gif

Where is transmission fluid located? Where is stick to check?

Transmission fluid is located inside the transmission fluid pan. It is checked and added through the fill tube. The dipstick is located under the hood. You have two dipsticks, one for engine oil and one for transmission fluid. On some models, the dipstick for the transmission fluid may be located under the engine cover in the cab of the van between the driver's and front passenger's seats. If you simply cannot find two dipsticks under the hood, it's under the engine cowl.

1992 Geo Metro Hatchback

O.K,first don't drive the car with that light on unless absolutely neccessary(as in if you need to get somewhere safe or something).Second, yes you can add oil, 5W30,will be fine (does not matter which brand)but you need to make sure you don't add too much.Look for the oil dipstick under the hood to check the level of oil. There will be some kind of mark on the dipstick to show you where the level shhould be, down towards the end tip of the dipstick. There may be 2 dipsticks under the hood,1 for oil and 1 for transmission fluid so make sure yourr looking at the right one.Hope this helps.good luck.

No oil dipstick found!

Definately the deep stick is somewhere in there. Look around in your hood in the front panel close to the radiator part.
