THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS TO BE IN THE START POSITION.INSERT 1/16 INCH ALLEN WRENCH PRESS THE LOCK CYLINDER RELEASE PIN AND ROTATE THE KEY TO THE RUN POSITION.AND PULL THE LOCK CYLINDER OUT.WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW CYLINDER ALIGN THE RETAINER SLOT IN THE HOUSING THEN PUSH THE CYLINDER IN UNTIL IT SNAPS IN POSITION.

IF CYLINDER RETAINER IS NOT IN THE RETAINER SLOT IN THE HOUSING THEN PUSHED CYLINDER UNTIL IT SNAPS INTO POSITION.THE IGNITION KEY WONT TURN TO START AND RUN POSITION.

IF YOU CANT TURN IGNITION KEY TO START POSITION OR RUN POSITION YOU NEED TO REPLACE IGNITION SWITCH KEY LOCK CYLINDER ASSEMBLY.RETAINER PIN IN KEY LOCK CYLINDER BROKEN.

Removal of ignition lock cylinder without key on 98 cheyenne 1500

If the key won't turn, for practical purposes the cylinder cannot be removed and the lock assembly must be replaced, though you might be lucky and find a slide hammer will remove the cylinder without causing too much damage to the lock.

It is possible, as the key won't turn, the lock is the trouble and not the cylinder...

Weve replaced the shifter cable on a chevy silverado 1500 and everything is lined up but when its in park it shows its in reverse.

If you have digital gear indicator,,,there is a adjustment under the truck where the cable bolts to the pan,,,lossen the bolts and it will slide back and forth to make the indicator read correctlly,,, if it a older style like pre 97 i believe you remove the kick panel at you knee there is a clip with little cable or string looking line that clips to the steering colum, kinda on the top side,,,slide the clip back off the mont ,,,its spring loaded so hold on to it,,and move it over to make the indicator show correctly,,, its very simple

Can a 94 chevy cheyenne transmission interchange with a 97 chevy silverado tranmission

Will it physically fit? yes. Will it be a direct replacement any everything hook right up and plug right in? If we are talking about an automatic then no. 1994's wiring was completely different than the 1997. Can it be made to work? possible, but I believe it would be more trouble trying to make it work than if the correct transmission were located and installed. If it is a cost issue where he has a good trans out of a 1994 he might see if a salvage yard will do some partial trading for the correct trans.
