My Brake and Tail light fuses keep going out in my 97 Corolla

A couple things are happening. Regardless of whether or not my lights are on, whenever I brake my dash lights will come on for the duration of my braking. All too often the tail light fuse will go out, knocking them and my dash lights out. Upon changing the fuse, a short time later I will blow both my tail light and brake light fuse. When the brake light fuse breaks, my car is stuck in park. I have checked the light bulbs and sockets, and still cannot find the problem. I have also ripped apart the undercarriage under the steering wheel and the dash to see if the problem lay there, which it didn't. Any other things I can try?

Sounds like a bare wire shorting out the system against metal somewhere. Try looking for any pinched wires under the hood as a start

My 2009 toyota corolla tail lights wont come on

Hi Tiffany:
Help me with this. Is it the running lights, brake/signal/flasher, licence plate light?
Have you checked fuses and bulbs?
Can you tell us exactly what happened immediately before you noticed the problem?
I'd be guessing fuse or bulbs, but that's just a guess without a bit more history.
Keep at it, we;ll get it.

2000 Acura 3.5 RL suddenly has no tail lights or tag lights. Brake, reverse and blinker all work. Checked fuses-all appear fine. Decided to replace bulbs and noticed front right marker light out so changed...

The only thing that both the brake lights and tail lights use is a ground connection. Keep in mind the warning light on the dash may be for any exterior lamp. You may need to check the sockets and grounds on all four corners of the car.

My tail lights are out. I even replaced with new bulbs. Brake Lights go on only when brake is applied

Have you check your fuses ? There is a tail light fuse. you will find fuse information in your owners manual.

1999 Toyota Corolla Seca - hatchback. the tail

If you put your foot on the brake, the tail lights and parking lights will still come on. Possibly your brake is sticking. Check to see if it is and if it is put WD40 for a quick fix. See a tech for them to fix your brake alignment. Good Luck!

No brake lights, fuses keep blowing and wont shift out of park

I would look for a wiring short in the trunk at the taillamp area, or, inspect the sockets for the taillamp bulbs for corrosion. In any case, you have a short circuit in the trunk area, also check the wire that comes from the body & goes up the trunk hinge on the driver side; that wire may be chafed, and it may be shorting out. Hope this helps; please get back to me if you need any further assistance.
