if i had new bmw i would let only the bmw dealership change oil and service the car period, bmw is a very expensive car every body cant work on them.let dealership do the oil change they the only ones can reset your oil service light, its not easy to reset if you dont know how. most of the time if you have new vechicle the place where you bought the car will cut you a oil change deal.
check the oil level using the dipstick in the engine you may just have a bad sensor that needs to be repaced, however if it is in fact getting low you may want to have the engine checked for comprssion leaks you may be burning the oil or it is seeping out of the gaskets in small amounts.
The dealers generally use 5W30 ,irrespective of you geographical location. Its also the recommend oil in your service book.I have a 330d and it uses same oil.
your owners manuel shoul tell you the recomended oil , the auto parts store can also tell you for free sometimes its best to write down the fin number if you dont know engine size etc.
IF YOUR NOT FAMILLIAR WITH BMW TAKE IT IN TO A DEALER OTHERWISE ITS DEAD CENTER OF ENGINE AND SO IS FILTER IF YOUR NEW OIL IS NOT BLUE OR PURPLE DONT PUT IT IN
