First, remove the small black plastic cover above the door panel right behind the mirror, you should be able to pull the top part away from the door then pull the bottom part straight up to remove it. (Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry it off if you can't pull it off with your hands)

Next using a small screwdriver (to pry), remove the small trim piece inside the door handle then remove the screws behind it.

Next the grab handle, you'll find the front piece of it comes off, behind that will be three screws, remove them.

Now starting at the bottom, pry the door panel away from the door, it's held on by nine push pins that will pop out as you pull. (Use a long, flat head screwdriver to slowly pry it off) Disconnect the power window switch and release the door handle from the door panel and remove it.

The rest of the interior trim panels down the side of the vehicle should be held on by retaining clips and just snap off when you pull up on them

Need to replace side mirror

this is an easy job, alot of these you can pop the cover behind mirror and get the the plug and the bolts that hold the mirror. if not then remove the left top of panel just pull away from the door to get enough room to reach the plug or one of the bolts, if you what to remove the complete panel then remove the door reflector theres a screw behind that remove it, then flathead screw driver use to remove rear truck release bezel and dissconnect switch. next remove lower switch screws and bezel, then push door switch bezel up with screw driver and discconnect know gentle pull on panel to release hold on clips, these clips pop on and off. hope this helps.

Remove the door panel. Mirror is attached near door post usually with just a few screws. Electric screw motor attached to base of mirror. Be careful as mirror pops in and out and it breaks really easy

HOw do you replace the driver's side mirror on a Honda Civic 98 model? Does the door trim need to come off to take the cover off that surrounds the adjustment arm? Thanks Graham

The trim at the mirror level should do it, I'm not positive, but it is a small, 3 or 4 inch triangle of plastic that will pop off and expose 3 or 4 bolts holding the mirror on. It has a motor in it and wire connector. It is heavy, hang on to it.

Passenger side mirror

If you need to replace the entire mirror - it's a little involved. First you need to take the upper extension panel off from behind the mirror (black triangle) - just pull it of starting at the top. It will snap back on later. Next - remove the different screws holding the door panel in place (not the ones behind the mirror yet!) One is under the handle (pull it out and pull out the filler panel - small plastic thing that has a hole to pry it out). Then take off the rear red light - also pops off - and remove that screw. Finally - pick up the rubber filler where your fingers pull the door shut and remove these torx bolts.

Now is the tricky part. Snapp off the entire interior panel. It will pop off - but very difficult. It will sound like it is breaking! Start at the outer bottom corner - and use a door panel remover tool - check Amazon or E-bay - to keep from breaking things. Pull it out from all around the bottom and sides and then lift it up over the door lock. It good to have a friend help here. The panel will still be held on by a cable - that is your door release - leave it alone and let the panel hang by it (or better, put a box under it to rest on).

Now...remove the three bolts holding the mirror on - have a friend help hold the mirror while you do this or it will scratch your new car! Since the inner panel is off - you can also disonnect the mirror plus and remove it. It sounds silly - but the only reason to remove the door panel is to unplug it!

Get you new mirror and reverse the steps.

If you are just replacing the glass (non-heated) - get a replacement from the dealer. Adjust the mirror all the way to the inside and reach behind and pop it off. CAREFUL - put tape over the entire glass as it will likely break even more! Remove your connectors if heated - and replace (and reconnect) with your new glass. It just pops back on!

Replacing glass is easy - just be careful of cheap imitations on e-abay). And never use cheap flat glass on the passenger side! The DOT has special requirements for mirror glass - buy it from gmpartsdirect.com or your local dealer.
