2007 toyota rav4 cold start is slow. V6 2WD 40 K miles always started quickly when cold, but now requires that I depress the pedal a little, and still takes longer than normal to start. (Cold in Houston is below 50 deg...)

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT OIL WEIGHT. SOME WEIGHT CHANGES IN COLDER WEATHER IT WILL BE IN YOUR OWNERS MANUAL.2ND BATERYS TEND TO HAVE A 3 YEAR LIFE DO A LOAD TEST ON BATTERY AND I THINK YOU WILL FIND YOUR PROBLEM

Testimonial: "Timothy Reed Sorry I'm so late responding to your answer... Just learning a little on how to use this 'fixya' site... YOU WERE EXACTLY CORRECT !!! I would not have believed that it was the battery because it still did a good job of turning the engine. Had to replace the battery shortly thereafter... and that problem totally disappered and has never come back.. Thank you"

Battery fully charged, engine won't start or even turn over, gear locked in park, brake pedal is depressed.

This may help: http://www.toyotanation.com/forum/274-2nd-generation-2004-2010/199861-04-sienna-transmission-lock.html
There are multiple issues here.Won't crank? Go direct to starter.

How do I fix 1996 Rav4 brake lights always on?

You may have a bad brake liggt switch or just need to adjust it. It is found on the back side of the brake pedal. When the brake is depressed the button should come out when released the button should be depressed telling the lights to come on or go off

Ignition switch will not engage/turn to start car

Hi Beth usually when shifter is stuck there is a locking mechanism and keeps shifter from engaging unless brake is depressed to release the lock. If you hear a clicking sound when pedal is depressed then switch is probably ok and its probably the steering wheel lock. First try with your spare key to start the vehicle(old key may be worn ). If that doesn't do it then try with WD 40 a very little in ignition key hole or on the key work it slowly and see what happens. If none of these suggestions work its probably the steering wheel lock and that requires surgery. Keep me post best of luck

Need to know what kind of oil mt 2007 RAV4 uses.

Your 2007 RAV4 requires 4.5 quarts SAE 5w20 with filter change. I use Pennzoil and highly recommend it but all major brands are good. Use a quality filter such as Wix, Purolator, or Bosch. Change your oil/filter every 5,000 miles if using conventional oil and every 7,000 miles if using synthetic if you drive normally.

My rav4 V6 Sport has a delayed starting problem. Toyota says it's within specs. It allways started "immediatly" then some time ago it started to take 4 to 6 seconds. Again Toyota says it's normal. I don't...

I would say 4 seconds would be max on a bad day.
If it were my car I would try some WD 40 sprayed on to and around the linkage of the carburetor and work that linkage a little. It sounds like the choke is not completely closing when it needs to be or is not opening all the way up after it warms. Just a thought. Also you may want to check the air filter to see if it needs replaced. Good Luck, The Raz

2007 Dodge Caliber

Make sure you have a fully charged battery. When starting the car, push the gas pedal down to the floor to engage the choke. Then push pedal halfway down and turn the ignition. Try jump starting to see if it is the battery. If it still turns slow it may be a bad starter.
