You may have put the wires in the wrong location, usually there is a diagram located under the hood to tell you where the spare plug wires goes, also located in the operators manual there should be the diagram for the spark plugs.

I have a 1995 ford mustang 3.8 5 speed and i just put new plugs wires on the car and the engine still shakes it shakes so hard it shakes the whole car im at a loss can anybody tell me what it is and is it...

There are so many causes, electrical, plugs, fuel injectors, timing order, Think of what's been done check history of prior repairs, try to read codes , w/o knowing your mech. back round ,I would take my time and research the Motors Manual or Chiltons auto repair manual on line or at library.

Motor shakes very bad

-Sounds like blow head gasket, broken or burn valve.
-Do compression check each cylinder to see what you have and compare to its specification.
Or
-Was it recently rebuild?
If so then timing might be off.
spark plug wire connect to the wrong spark plug.
Vacuum line might connect to the wrong line.
Bad rotor or cap .

Good luck

Car shakes and blows black smoke after changing oil, filter, and spark plugs

no engine stated (which one?)_ 2.0L 16valve?

you didnt do sparks 1 by one, and mangled the firing order.

bad boy,

or set the spark gap wrong, or used china junk rotors, that index 3 ways, or all the above.

when working old dizzycars. (dizzy at flywheel end of CAM)

1: mark the cap for #1, follow the #1 cylinder spark wire to cap

mark the cap, post as #1 or be very angry soon,,,, i promise./

2 : the replace wires 1 by1 , if not , it will never run.

3: also know dizzy rotor direction, crank and look

CCW or CW.? write it down. for later.

firing order is 1,3,4,2. in the direction in above line.3

if you need to start from scratch we can.

the FSM covers that. so does alldata.com

My 2000 S 10 chevys water pump went out and it ran hot and shut down the motor. We replaced the water pump. But the moter shakers real bad when its idling. But it run good.We all so had atune up done on...

I don't know what is involved with replacing the water pump (how much stuff do you need to remove). Overheating an engine can cause a lot of different things to happen, from damaging temperature sensors to cracked blocks/heads. If you think the security and rough idle are related, the only thing it would be is a ground wire issue (which may have been disconnected to replace the water pump). Other than that, the two problems would not be linked together. I would check vacuum lines, ground wires, and spark plug wires first.

Cylinder 1 misfire 2003 chevy impala.. My car started running rough all of a sudden today. like the engine was shaking. took it to auto one said cylinder 1 misfire. what does that mean & what should i...

a number one misfire means that the number one cylinder is no longer working as good as it should or is not working at all. The number one cylinder is on the back side of the engine on the passenger side. 1-3-5 are the three cylinders in the back.

Three basic things can cause a misfire.
1. a bad spark plug wire
2. a bad spark plug.
3. a bad injector.

Remove the sparks plug wire from the spark plug and remove the spark plug. Inspect the inside of the wire and the outside of the plug to see if there is any carbon tracking. it will look like black lightning bolts. If there is any carbon tracking replace the plugs and wires.

Check the spark plug gap. It should be around .060". if its over .080" the plug is worn out.

Check for spark with a spark tester.

the fuel injector is a little trickier.

Start with the things above and let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

After getting a tune up on my 97 Jimmy SLE its studders and shakes like it wanna cut of but don't. Has very little power. This started right after the tune up was done. I had the Spark plugs, wires,...

The mechanic that did the tuneup might have got cap/rotor position screwed up. If what you listed is all they replaced thats the most likely thing. Or they mixed up the position of a couple of spark plug wires. Those are the 2 things to check.

My car shakes a lot while at stop lights. Whats wrong?

Poor performance from spark plugs and wires. mine did the same thing. I tried to change the spark plugs, and found oil within and around the spark plug boots, which is problematic, but not the actual cause of your problem. If you find this, your valve cover gasket needs replacing.

If not, just get new plugs and wires. Got that done and shaking almost disappeared completely.

Car dying out after spark plug change

Sounds like either wires are not connected properly, or need new set of wires. More likely wires are installed incorrectly. One other possibility is wrong plugs or installed improperly

1985 gmc sierra shakes

Nic, If the carburetor was dumping gas, remove the engine oil dip stick and see if it smells like gasoline. If it does you will need to change the oil.
Second, go back over your spark plug wires and verify they are on the correct spark plug. Start with the #1 plug wire, the firing order is 1,8,4.3.6.5.7.2...
Let me know how it turns out and we can go from there.
Good luck.
