All the engine oil is getting pumped into the air cleaner. The break power booster needs replacing and I'm wondering if this can be a factor due to vacum?

Oil getting in the breather assembly is from blow by. Is the pcv valve working? If so I would suspect a high mileage engine and not much can be done other than rebuild

1985 gmc vandura 2500 will not fire when trying

Sounds like you may have problems with the ignition switch. The starter is turning over? But the motor doesn't fire, until you turn the key off?

When turning on the key, there is no electrical

This could be one of many problems.. first, check your battery turminals, next check fuses under the hood "even the mast link"fuse in big red battery cable, check wires at the starter, you may have a faulty ignition switch.. does any thing work when you turn the key to acc's???
Fuses are the most common trouble but concider all the info that ive given you.
On older GMs the connections at the starter gave problems that match your trouble.
Good Luck.

89 gmc c2500 5.7 tbi had oil changed at well known

Hi, this is not the first time i've heard of this problem..I have repaired engines with rod knock, crank bearing knock and piston slap after these treatments. These products can clean so much carbon and varnish from the engine that it brings the real internal problems to the surface. Try using thicker oil

Changing a starter on a 1985 GMC Sierra

Stand on a milk crate and undo the wires from the solenoid from the top. Also the nut at the front of the starter. The wire on the inside of the solenoid can be taken off when you drop the starter down. Hope this helps.

How do you replase a starter in a 2500 C GMC?

Disconnect the negitive battery cable,#2remove the 4 bolts holding the flywheel inspection cover(10mm head)#3try to access the wires on the starter solenoid large wire should be a 13mm nut and small one should be 1/4" socket to fit the nut.If you can't get up to them thats ok we will get to them after lowering starter.Remove the 2 starter bolts (either a 9/16 or 15mm socket) DON'T let the starter drop it will tear your wires.Next remove the 2 nuts I said about before make sure you save the lock washers if your new starter doesn't have any also make sure you pay attention to how the wires are on the solenoid postion and correct stud or treminals. The large battery wire is keyed to go on one way only tab on terminal fits in slot on solenoid.if you get this off center you will crack solenoid and have to replace it .Reverse procedure to install.GOOD LUCK

1985 gmc sierra shakes

Nic, If the carburetor was dumping gas, remove the engine oil dip stick and see if it smells like gasoline. If it does you will need to change the oil.
Second, go back over your spark plug wires and verify they are on the correct spark plug. Start with the #1 plug wire, the firing order is 1,8,4.3.6.5.7.2...
Let me know how it turns out and we can go from there.
Good luck.

1985 gmc sierra

No Problem-Glad to Help! About the Best way to get to that wire and find out which one it really is is to get the Voltage Tester that I told ya about Before. Orielley Auto Parts has the best Selection and Really know their Stuff. If you don't have one near you go to Auto Zone and tell them that you need to locate a Faulty wire as Cheap as Possible and they can Help ya. When you get to that Point open the Hood and disconnect the Headlight harness from the Light (will work the same with other lights too). With the Headlights OFF and the Ignition turned to Start Check the Gold Leads inside the Harness for Power. The Voltometer Instructions will let you know what you are looking for, Probably 12 on the Meter will let you know that there is Power going to the Lights. If that is all good then go to the Fuse Box and Locate ALL the Fuses that have to do with Lights. Leave the Fuses in and Check the Gold Parts where the Fuse fits into the Box. If you find it you can always run an External wire from the Lights back to the Box. Sometimes the Fuse boxes are a REAL BEAR to get to and work with. Let me Know what you Find!
