Inside of the large heater hose. you will see something that looks like a towball attachment on the top, side of you block. It has two bolts.

The t-stat is located on the front side of the engine underneath. you actually have better visibilty underneath the vehicle. i would perform a flush prior to replacing any parts. if it was the t-stat, you would also have over heat issues. a t-stat is nothing more then a temperature sensitive, mechanical restriction in the cooling system. wax pellets heat up during the warm up process allowing the engine to heat more rapidly during cold start and push the valve open allowing for flow to the radiator. go to your local parts store and for about $10 you can get a flush chemical which will help flush your system of contaminants and corrosion and then refill the system with fresh coolant and distilled water. be sure that the system is totally full and bled or you will know the first time you take it out and it over heat due to lack of fluid.

35,000 miles on vehicle. Last major maintenance

ok if the termostat stay open at all times . good the car dont over heat . but if stay closed then the car over heat ...... but an open termostat keep the engine too cold and the ecu turn on the service soon light .....a full tune up is spark plugs oil oil filter air filter and the most important thing on after 2000 cars the fuel filter if the car run lean can burn the catalyctic convertor and o2 sensors thats expensive beter prevent that and of course put good gas .good luck

Engine heats to proper temp, heater fan works, already replaced termostat. heater core doesn't seem to be leaking.

Find where both hoses are going to the heater core from the firewall side after engine is up to temp.Touch them with your hand.If they are both quite warm the water is flowing thru the heater core. If only one is hot the core is stopped up. If both are hot and still no heat the heater door in the heater box is staying closed.

Termostat

Need to change the termostatic, this will make the car heat up, plus increase your fuel milage, plus check on changing the sending unit under the hood, that send the signal to the gauge.
