SOURCE: Both door locks do not

Do any of the door handles inside or out feel sloppy (when you pull on them does it feel like there is nothing connected to them)?

If so that the levers on the latches are probably rusted up and sticking. Say for example the outside door handle lever that is attached to the door latch is stuck half way in the open position it will not allow the door lock mechanism to lock or unlock. The door will still latch and stay closed because the lever will not be stuck far enough to release the latch mechanism from hold on to the striker.

I have had pretty good luck removing the door latch (the part that actually holds the door closed) and soaking in penetrating lube and working all the levers until they move freely.

As far as the door that doesn't open I suspect it is stuck in the lock position and one of the handle mechanisms is in the partial up position. Again the symptom would be a sloppy door handle. That lever will need to be put back in its normal resting position before the door can be unlocked. This can be done with a slim jim. Once you have the door panel apart on the door that still opens you will be able to see the parts you need to move. You can then use that knowledge to move those parts on the other door that doesn't open.

If you don't have any experience with a lockout kit (i suspect most people do not) that that's the best way I can describe how you can do this yourself.

My remote for my 1999 ford explorer sport will open all doors except drivers side. what is causing this problem and how do I fix this.

Most likely your accuator is bad, every door has a accuator which is the electrical part that makes the door lock operate, this is very common.go to a junk yard and get one for allot less money.
To replace the accuator just take the inner door panel off, you will need some kind of a light for this but the accustor is on the left side on drivers side right side on passengers door, you will see the accuator which has a hook on the end of the unit,by the way the accuator will have a rubber sheathing covering the body, some fords have a small clip on the end of the hook on the accustor, remove the clip, unplug the accuator replace the new part. This is a good place to start.

Hi i have Cherokee sport 2001 and central door locks not working, at the same time all passenger windows cannot be open only i can open from driver side console. few days back all the door locks start

Try unplugging the passenger door module from the wiring harness. Module may be bad. I see one screw holding it with tabs at the other end. You should be able to pull it up without removing the door panel. I see there are modules online for less than $40.

My front passenger door does not open neither from the inside or the outside. it looks like the lock is stuck in the locking position and won't open from the drivers side push button or the passenger's...

hi deleon,

on your door, if you remove the panel from the inside, you should see a lever connected to the handle that is supposed to disengaged the door hinge opening the door.

your may have this part broken due to corrosion, or there is a possibility that the lock did not disengage leaving the lever connect to the door handle not disengaging the door hinge.

have this checked with a local mechanic or consult the service manual for DIY.

if you have other questions, just lemme know.

Locks and hatchback

Open the rear inside cover and you will see where the keeper for the handle mechanism may have broken. You can get this from any part store. It is difficult to get in there but a small hand can open it for better access.
