The plastic vent is installed vertically in front of the air filter. The two slotted tabs on the bottom slip over the metal frame of the filter compartment with the hand grip resting on the cowl.
Thanks for your response. I bought the cabin filter from O'Reilly Auto Parts they relaced the filter but the store was unable to replace the small black plasic vent. I took it to two other O'Reilly Auto Parts Stores and none could find a way to corectly install it.

Dash vents usually snap in. Looking at the replacement vent will often times clue you in on how it's secured and the best way to remove it. Do you have the replacement already?
