Just bought my 94 jeep cherokee & the screen in the middle consol continues me beep and flash ''rear lamp failure''

AS LONG AS YOUR CAR IS RUNNING FINE & HAS BEEN SERVICED RECENTLY YOU CAN ALTER THIS MESSAGE ON SCREEN TO STOP THE BEEPING, THE EASIEST WAY IS TO DISCONNECT BOTH THE + & - BATTERY LEADS & CONNECT THEM TOGETHER FOR AT LEAST 30 MINS, THIS WILL RESET THE JEEP'S MEMORY, CONNECT BACK THE LEADS & THEN WHEN YOU GET IN & START YOUR CAR THE DISPLAY BY THE GEARSHIFT WILL BE FLASHING - SET THE CLOCK BY KEEPING YOUR FINGER ON THE SET BUTTON FOR S FEW SECONDS UNTIL THE IST DIGIT BEGINS TO FLASH, THEN PRESS THE SET BUTTON UNTIL YOU REACH THE DESIRED HOUR, THEN PRESS THE SELECT BUTTON BELOW & THIS WILL MOVE YOU ON TO THE MINUTES, CONTINUE WITH THE ABOVE OPERATION UNTIL THE TIME & DATE HAVE BEEN SET, YOUR "SERVICE" SHOULD NOW BE RESET TO EITHER 7500 MILES OR 12500 MILES, I SERVICE MY 96 GRAND CHEROKEE MYSELF SO THIS IS MY "CHEAT" FOR THE SYSTEM & IT IS GUARANTEED TO WORK. I'd start with a new flasher relay (they're cheap). If not that, then go to those lamp sockets and check for corrosion. I had issues similar w my 95 laredo...it was the flasher.

Mine did the same I found out it was a break light out in the third break light. Easy to remove with a screwdriver. Replaced the bulbs and the warning went away.

Traced the problem to the Lamp Outage Module located in the rear left quarter access panel behind the spare tire. Arcing had occurred on the left taillight line. Fortunately this part is readily available at your local Jeep recovery yard (none available in the U.S. from dealers). Recommend J& W Auto Wreckers in Antelope, CA (web site available). Massive number of Jeeps and fair prices. If you don't want to replace the LOM then you can join the two connectors that go into the LOM (LOM is optional) but you'll always show a lamp failure on your console.

rear brake failure means something to do with the brake system not the lights

rear lamp failure. did you check brake and taillight and try blinkers some of the bulbs are dual filament bulbs one filament could be bad. the console light prob could be a blown fuse.
