There may be a filter mounting block that attaches to the engine and has its own gasket - or there may be another oil filter seal that stuck from the last filter replacement.....known as "double gasketed" it will leak

Why is my car leaking oil

its common for some automakers to leak oil, run badly, break often, & otherwise be a plain hassle............I would suggest reading consumer reports before buying new or used cars.

While sitting in park, my 1999 ford explorer with the 5.0 v8 has good oil pressure on the gauge. After driving for awhile the presure starts to flux really bad. The presure remains good while driving at...

maybe it's ur gauge! you can get it pressure tested at ur local auto shop for pretty cheap i think! Sounds to me like its nothing major as long as you know you got oil pressure! ( check temps while driving) BUT i wouldn't worry to much about it as oil pressure tends to flux as car is driving/ getting warm and oil gets lighter. Worst case scenario is a leak in the timing cover gasket and whoever replaced it should cover it. Do you see an residual oil near it? or on the ground when its wet and you pull out of your parking space? Hope this helps!

1995 ford explorer oil pressure gauge not working

There is a sending unit that is probably bad. It is located, in most cases, near the oil filter. It is a $10 part and simply screws in and a wire hooks to it.

Oil leaking around or near the oil filter

Might have to take the filter off wipe the O-ring thats on the filter clean and the area where the filter will be going on to the block. Probably has some dirt where the filter seats on the block.

Has a bad oil leak coming from under the car . The only time it leaks is when the car is running, was told that it could be the oil pan gasket or the oil sending unit, what I wanted to know is where the...

The oil pressure sending unit screws into the engine block so you will need to look between the oil pan and the head.I suggest that you try tightening your oil filter first.

I had the valve cover gasket changed on my 1996

on a v6 ? Low on oil? rear cam plugs leaking? The lifters are on the end of the rocker arms and may get clogged. I have had some luck running 0w30 mobil synthetic for about a week or so with a new oil filter [Not a fram filter] and after that put 10w30 synthetic oil back in and a new filter. Check for oil leaking at other locations. If the noise is at the front of engine near water pump it may be the hydraulic timing belt tensioner.

No oil pressure

The oil pressure switch (also known as the oil press. sending unit) is located above the oil filter, mounted on the engine block. It is a $6 part in my area, just by chance if that's all that's wrong, I'd replace it. Hopefully it is that simple. If not, time for an oil pump? If u remove it, and crank the engine, there should be a steady flow of oil, if not then it's the pump. Good luck.
