Your anti-theft steering lock is stuck.

Grab the steering wheel and pull HARD to the left, turning the key at the same time. It should pop loose.

My wife couldn't do it the other day, but it was just because she didn't have enough brute strength. The neighbor came over and pulled hard and sure enough it broke free.

Ignition key wont turn

If this is the same key you have been using right along, and if no one has intentionally damaged the key switch, be sure your steering wheel is turned to the position that will allow the key to be turned on.
When parking a car, it is not unusual to turn the steering wheel to park. Then, the wheel can lock up, and you would need to force the steering wheel to get the switch to unlock so the key would go in.
Do that by applying just enough pressure to move the steering wheel back & forth, and try to turn the key on at the same time.
God's blessings.

Steering wheel locked

Your steering wheel should turn to the left or right. It will probably just turn a little. That should be enough to allow the key to turn......

Key won't turn, won't shift from Park

My 2003 Saturn l200 2.2 ecotec did this when the battery was dead. Put some juice on the battery, then the car came out of park, and I was able to remove the key. To the car, there's a vast difference between a sluggish battery and a dead battery. It may have enough amps to crank it, but it wont start w/out full output from the battery.

So i parked my car yesterday and took the key out to find out park, but reverse. now i cant start my car or change the gears! i can still put the keys in and out and turn it but the car wont start or shift...

Put the key in, turn it forward 2 clicks like normal. Make sure you push the brakes all the way down and then try to shift the gear to park. Ya, cars wont start in gear, they made that way. If it still wont go in gear, try turning the steering wheel left & right. Sometimes the wheel lock can mess with ya. If not still, you need to call a mechanic. Cuz actually, if you were in reverse instead of park, the key should have never came out. Also make sure the key is in ALL the way.

Can not turn the ignition key, to start car?

This is a very common situation that arises when the steering-lock mechanism binds, it is usually because the wheels are jammed against the curb.
Follow the instructions below to solve the issue:--
1) First of all make sure that the transmission is in park. Set the parking brake to prevent the car from rolling farther against the curb
2) Pull hard on the steering wheel while turning it in both directions. This will normally free the wheel, but if it does not help. then,
3) Release the parking brake and put the transmission in neutral. Let up on the foot pedal just enough to rock the car slightly.and now turn the steering wheel again. this time the key should turn now.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
