Turn the ignition off. Raise and support the vehicle with the wheels off the ground. Turn wheels fully to left, add power steering fluid to the full cold mark on dipstick. Leave cap off. Turn wheels from side to side several times, but do not touch steering stops. Add fluid, if necessary, to maintain level at full cold mark.
Start engine. With the engine idling, rechecked fluid level. Add fluid, if necessary, to bring level to the full cold mark. Install cap. Return wheels to center position. Lower vehicle. Continue to run engine for 2 to 3 minutes. Road test vehicle. Check for leaks. Ensure fluid level is at full hot Mark when fluid stabilizes at operating temperature
The system will bleed out the air by turning the wheel all the way from one side to the other repeatedly, do this action at least 10 times to be sure all the air is remove from the hydraulic system. Be sure not to allow the fluid level to drop too low or air will get back into the system.
1. Remove serpentine belt
2. loosen power steering pressure and return hoses
3. Remove nut from pressure line mounting on alternator bracket
4. remove power steering pump mounting bolts.
5. Lift pump assembly from engine mounting and remove hoses.
6. Reverse order to install. Fill and bleed system.
NOTE: A new or rebuilt power steering pump will most likely not come with a pulley attached. You will need a power steering pulley remover/installer tool to transfer the pully from the old pump to the new one.
