Fuel gauge gets stuck at a quarter of a tank even when filled up

If it moves occasionally but hangs up. Most likely a bad sending unit in the gas tank. Assumming its has a good ground connection. Check the sending unit/fuel pump wire harness on the fuel tank and if you replace the sender you may get the pump as a unit or replace it if its been there since 2003 so you don't have to redo the job when the pump goes bad. Pump is sort of affordable but the sending unit is very disturbingly pricy

The petrol gauge, from empty to quarter how much litres is it? And from quorter to half? From half to three quarter? Lastly from three quarter to full?

What you need to understand here is that's how some gauges work its not the space shuttle it dosn't have to be .
The best way to figure it out is to first know how much the tank holds Drive it until its at half a tank according to the gauge then fill it up see how much fuel it takes so you can't put any more fuel in the tank.
You can do this same thing at any level 3/4 1/4 or E to see how much reserve fuel left after E
Likely nothing is wrong with the gauge..

Fuel gauge is not reading properly 2006 Mercury Mountaineer

Fuel gauges are not meant to be precision instruments. You might want to fill up a 2 gallon can and drive the car until it runs out of fuel to see how low the gauge will go before it's really empty. Use the 2 gallons to get back to a filling station.
I once spent three working days trying to get a 1972 Chrysler to read full when it's full, half when it's half and quarter tank when the tank has a quarter amount of fuel. The customer did not want to accept anything else, but in the end all I did was to get close, not exact.
It is possible that the fuel float in the gas tank is "drowned", that is, the plastic float might have a slow leak and some fuel found its way inside. This will cause the float to submerge slightly and give you a low reading. To check this you will have to remove the float unit from the tank.
In any case, if you feel up the job (not easy) remove the float unit from the tank and manually move it up and down while checking the meter reading. You can bend the wire holding the float to correct misreadings.
Personally, I wouldn't bother, just be aware that when the reading is low, feel safe that you still have enough fuel to get to the next filling station.

Sounds like at 1/4 reading, the actual reading of the fuel should be empty.Your gauge sending unit in the tank is most likely defective. Many are on these.

Is there a fuse for the fuel guage

The Fuel gauge is not separately fused, so if the other gauges work that is not the problem.

1998 Ford zx2 Escort Gas gauge

its probably the gauge in the tank if they put the pump in and not moved the wiring when fitting it get court on the float so does not move, had this before, but if it been like this for a year i would remove the gauge as its not been moving about to keep the resistance board clean so would need to be cleaned up, oil spray and a cotton bud should clean it up ok with out damaging the board.

05 grd caravan fuel gauge showed quarter tank and

The float sending unit is messed up and don't know now much gas is in the tank. The float may be stuck in a higher position showing more gas, in reality the gas level is way below. Try using a rubber mallet and tap on the gas tank near the fuel pump. It may help free up the float.

Just replaced fuel pump in a 1996 chrysler sebring convertable 2.5 liter. fuel gauge is now stuck between half and a quarter.

sounds like float is stuck in tank, either remove pump again or try filling tank and drive your car swerving it to unstick float assembly
