SOURCE: How do I replace a camshaft position sensor on a 2000 ford escort

bullshits, the CMP sensor is near the 4 injector, you have to take out all the electric conector near injector 4, take out the 2 screws that hold the fuel rail, sometimes you have to take out the 4 injector for the space, then take out the screws that hold the CMP, lub the o´ring of the new one and reverse this steps.

Probably behind the camshaft sproket. Do you see any wireing going into the timeing cover? how hard is it to remove the top timeing cover & have a look should only be a few bolts

94 galant crankshaft position sensor

If I recall correctly, the '94 2.4L does not have a crankshaft sensor. The timing is handled by
a) correct alignment of the timing belt; and
b) the camshaft sensor on the end of the engine, above the gearbox.

I have no experience of the V6 models.

I am trying to find the location for my crankshaft position sensor on my 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante

Your 1999 Mitsubishi Diamante is a 3.5L MFI SOHC 6cyl engine.
MFI = multi-port fuel injection
SOHC = single overhead camshaft
This answer covers Mitsubishi Diamante1.8L, 2.4L, 3.0L (SOHC and DOHC), 3.5L, and 1997-2000 1.5L Engines.

2.4L engine shown, others similar.

In Fig. 1, the two arrows point to the CKP (crankshaft position sensor) mounting bolts to remove. 2.4L engine shown.

Fig.2 - CKP reluctor removal

Remove the sensor and slide the reluctor wheel off of the crankshaft-2.4L engine shown.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the timing belt.
3. Unplug the sensor connector.
4. Unfasten the two retaining bolts, then remove the CKP sensor from the vehicle.
5. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi galant with the 3.0 v6 motor and I need to replace the camshaft positioning sensor. Is it all one piece with the distributor or is it separate from the distributor?

go on line type in camshaft position sensor and open up the utube film of where it is and how to do it. Normally position sensors are not near the distributor as they have a specific setting and read the cam position to adjust the variable valve solenoid .
