While driving my tachometer keeps dropping to zero.

I have a 1997 buick and after driving for a few minutes on the highway I will feel a sudden **** and the tachometer will drop to zero. Once every few days the check engine light will come on, but then it goes away.

This is a pretty common issue for Trailblazers to have. Here's a link with more information about these GM gauge problems. And where you can purchase replacement parts on Amazon if you want to do the repair yourself. Trailblazer Speedometer

NOT SURE BUT IT KINDA SOUNDS LIKE EITHER A BAD GROUND TO THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE OF A BAD GOUND ON THE ALTERNATOR. ARE YOU HAVING ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES OTHER THAN THIS?

My 1997 buick lesabre on the highway and I heard thumping noise and then it left. It came back a few minutes later and then it lost power. After I pulled over to side of road I notice car wouldnt go into...

Okay, jack the front of the car up and apply ebrake, make sure front wheels are off the ground have some one inside the car start the car and place in drive and if the axle spins then it the axle check both sides you will see the inner joint spin or the shaft going to outter joint spin but not wheel, also with the car on the ground and in park if you can push the car while in park then its an axle that broke but if it doesnt move and you feel it locking up in park then it may be the trany,

Tach. drop's to zero while driving 70 ?

I have had the almost same problem twice. A 'thump', like the engine missed a fire and tach drops. Seems OK after restart. Electrical? Timing chain slip?

Sudden Speed Up and Drop

Have your transmission fluid and filter changed. That should correct the problem.
