2000 Hyundai Elantra dies when accelerator is pressed. Car starts fine. Car idles fine. If you try to rev up the engine it dies. I cleaned spark plugs and MAF, but no help.

It is intermittent. Sometimes the car works great, other times it takes me 10 times to start it, before I can press on the accelerator without it dying. There are no Check Engine codes. Last night I was at a restaurant, and it never recovered. I was able to put the car in drive and it drove at 8 mph to my house. If I pressed on the accelerator, it died and I had to start it again. It did end up being the fuel filter. Right after I replaced the fuel filter, I drove for about 5 miles. I came home and it died on me like before. I have not had a problem with it in the last 5 days, so I think it is fixed.

Sounds like a fuel issue / carb or fuel injection problem.

Check your fuel filter

Testimonial: "I replaced the fuel filter, but it did not fix the problem. I also removed the car alarm, since I did not have the remote for it. I also replaced the air filter. Any other suggestions? I do have an OBD2 scanner (Turbo)."

I have a 2000 elantra it starts but when you press on th accelerator it boggsdown only goes about 10mph

First of all, are you able to rev up the motor soon after starting to let's say 3000 rpm's? And I mean easily! If not, then it's not in your drivetrain (engine/transmission), but more likely perhaps stuck brakes or slipping

Car idles perfectly but as soon as you accelerate to about 3000 revs it starts to die. have replaced fuel filter, air filter and spark plugs

The catalytic converter may be clogged which chokes out the engine when it cannot release the exhaust pressure.

at the exhaust manifold there is a flex joint in the exhaust pipe

Engine high rev at stop and slowly goes to idle speed.

I've got Hyundai Lantra 1.6 year 2000. It's take time to start when it's hot. When I start my car it revs at about 2k-3k rpm. It also does it when I come to a stop. When I come to a stop it will stay at a higher rpm than that of idle speed. It drives ok when on freeway but uses more petrol. I have changed the water & petrol pump but no luck

My elantra is rough idling - chugging when I accelerate

I have experienced this. This seems to only happen when its cold out and you use the defrosters/AC. If thats the case then to fix/avoid this you can press the accelerator briefly (while in park/neutral) just to rev up the engine to about 2k or so, before you put it into gear.
