You might want to try this if its got a kick down cable unhook it from throutle body and pull it out as far as you can and let it snap back, do this a few of times, sometimes a valve gets hung up inside valve body of trans. and won't let it shift. If that don't help you may have to pull pan to dislodge it if thats the problem. chk. the plug on trans. (Its a 4 wire white plug) with test light with key on to see if there is power down there one will be hot, thats for overdrive, now on top of intake in front throutle body there is a sending unit that looks like a temp. sending unit with a 2 wire plug on it that sends a signial down to that plug when engine gets to temp. to let it shift to overdrive. Maybe this will help, or give you some ideas.

SOURCE: 95 Buick Century dash removal?

you should not have to remove the dash to install a new radio all you have to do is remove the trim around the radio and then take out the bolts that hold the radio in and remove the wires from the back and also if there is a Walmart or Radio Shack near you get an installation kit and you plug it from the plugs from your old radio and it is alot easier to wire it that way

SOURCE: 2001 Buick Century shift solenoid

It is in the side cover on the valve body. The transmission needs to be removed to access the solenoids.

2001 Buick Century. Can i access the 3rd to 4th gear shift solenoid from the pan ? ...and if it is internal. Thank you

I really think you can.
You would pull the bottom pan off the transmission after draining the fluid, and you will see 2 solenoids.
One is for 1st & 2nd, one for 3rd & 4th.
If you do not what know what they look like, buy a new one, or look at pictures of them on "e-bay".
The are easily replaced, and you might not even need to replace the pan gasket, some are re-usable.
God bless your efforts.

run fault codes and check for TCM operation. Change the oil and clean the filter. Have the bands and clutch packs adjustment checked while the pan is off.

Transmission wont shift after 2nd gear

I wouldn't think that two transmissions would have the same bad 2-3 shift solenoid . Probably a wiring problem or the driver (transistor ) in side the control module . Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Find the PCM - powertrain control module , then looking at a wiring diagram find the circuit from the PCM to the transmission wiring connector . An check the circuit ! Free wiring diagrams at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on transmission/ transaxle , subsystem transmission controls . Click the search button then the blue link .The first diagram shows 2-3 shift solenoid electrical circuit from PCM connector 2 - pin 44 to the trans. connector - C 113 pin B . Check for a open in the wire ,if no open check to see if the PCM driver is supplying a ground . Videos on youtube show how to test this .

I have a 93 buick centry it will go into 1st 2nd and reverse but will not go into 3rd I had some problems with it shifting into 3rd but just went out

Unless you are knowledgeable in diagnosing internal transmission problems, it is impossible to help you over the internet. Take the vehicle to a knowledgeable transmission shop and be prepared to spend a good amount of money.

95 buick century transmission only has 1st gear and makes a rattle noise when in park. Reverse does not work at all. I can drive in 1st gear and once it shifts into 2nd, its like shifting into N. I will...

Check the fluid level and if it low top it up. However I doubt this will fix it. The bad news is that it sounds like your transmission has had it and the only solution is to get it repaired. Take it to a specialist transmission repairer for them to do a diagnosis, but expect bad news.

Goes into neutral and then shifts hard into 1st on slowdown

It sounds like your input clutch seals are rolling. Is the check engine light on. It could also be the pressure control solenoid could be causing the problem aswell
