Can a high pressure pump cos a range Rover not to fire but only cranks...We changed the fuel pump but still does the same... It says engine system faulty... What can the problem be???

The P008B-85 code relates to a high pressure fuel system. I couldn't find information on the second code, please check in the cars manual or with your local autozone for information on that code. Thank you.

I don't have experience of the engine but I believe it uses a common rail electronic diesel injection system.

These are complex and need a wealth of experience and diagnostic equipment to sort out some of the faults they seem to suffer from.

Generally the management computer won't send electric pulses to the injectors until the fuel pressure in the rail has reached a minimum value in a certain time of cranking.
If everything else appears ok, I suggest you revisit the fuel delivery to the high pressure pump. If you find nothing you can carry out a few basic tests with a multimeter but calling on an expert is more advisable.

How to Diagnose an Engine that Turns Over and Cranks But Does Not Start...

Are you that is it. I have replaced them. People wanted high pressure pumps in them. Other times was because I rebuilt the engine and a new pump came in the kit. Bad crank shaft bearings are usually why there is little or no oil pressure. If you hear knocking at the lower side of the engine at start up and after, it's to late for the pump.

Sounds like a fuel problem. With the switch in the "on" position, can you hear the pump running? Crack the union where the fuel line comes up to the injectors, crank the engine to see if fuel comes out. If not, check for power at the fuel pump (in the top of the fuel tank). You should have over 12V between the white wire and earth. Ignore the voltage of the green wire - that is the sender.

The engine and automatic transmission in this vehicles drive train are fully electronically controlled by a computer called the PCM (Power Train Control Module). Whenever a problem like this occurs the computer stores a record of the problem (there are of course some exceptions to this, like the fuel pump, engine coolant temperature sensor and MAF sensor for instance) in the form of a fault code in its memory, to read these fault codes you must have the systems memory scanned with a special tool. Once the fault code(s) are read you then must perform the appropriate diagnostic testing to find and resolve the problem(s) DO NOT REPLACE ANY PARTS UNTIL A TRAINED TECHNICAIN HAS DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO AVOID SPENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON PARTS THAT MAY NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM

There are few possibilities that are to be checked.:---- Engine cranks normally, but it does not fire:
You turn the key to start and hear the starter motor crank the engine, but when you release the key, the cranking stops and there is silence. This means that the battery and starting motor are working properly, but the engine is not firing. If you continue cranking the engine over in this way, the battery will eventually run down and will need to be recharged, but the battery and starter are not the cause of your problem.
There are a number of causes for this type of no-start condition, the most common being that you are simply out of gas. Assuming that you have fuel in the tank, you will need to go through a series of tests to determine what is causing the problem. The testing procedure is as follows:--- Spark:---------An easy way to test for spark is with an inexpensive spark tester. This is a device that is readily available at most auto supply stores. You use it by simply holding it next to a spark plug wire. If you see the neon lamp flashing while someone cranks the engine, then you have spark and should move on to checking for fuel. If there is no spark, or a very weak spark, you will have to replace the spark plug or the coil pack.It has to be checked. Fuel:
First step here is to listen for the fuel pump running inside the gas tank. When you turn the key to run, you should easily hear the pump come on, run for a few seconds to build fuel pressure, then turn off. If you do not hear it, it could mean that the fuel pump or circuitry is bad. (Fuel pump failure is a common problem). Fuel injected cars are very sensitive to proper fuel pressure. If the pressure is off, even by a few pounds, it will cause noticeable performance problems, or a no-start condition. To check for proper fuel pressure, you will need a fuel pressure gauge that is suitable for your type of system.Or you can also get the fuel pressure tested at local car garage,If fuel pressure is low then its a fuel pump and fuel filter related problem. Compression:

If you know that you have spark and fuel, the next step is to check for compression. For this, you will need a mechanic's grade compression tester that will screw into a spark plug hole. You will need to remove the spark plugs and use the compression tester to test the compression on each cylinder. If the compression is very low on all cylinders, that is a sure sign that the timing belt (or timing chain depending on the engine) has failed and will have to be replaced.

why you have replaced the Fuel pump? who advised you to do so?
be guided as follow 1. on the Engine Side on the top there is a fuel rail for the injectors. turn the ign. key to the second position (on) and check the valve located on the fuel rail if fuel is coming pressurized and still won't work. then open on of the spark plugs wires and check if spark is there. (Be Careful doing that). if no spark then is there any message comes up on the Dash? if not messages then you can check the Crank Sensor if no current being generated from the ign. coils.
