you said ECU but todays cars there is no ECU
its called PCM now, and has (now) the TCM too inside.
it runs the engine EFI and the tranny both and thus the name
powertrain control module. but I am no arguing silly names
as modern cars can have 10 computers on board.

Hi the ECU is built into the transmission, they are very basic on this modle. What problem are you having??

Sorry but i would have thought the gearbox would have a different ECU for the gearbox ,Iam a europeon mechanic so auto boxes are few and far between here ,now a diesel manual is more in my line

Its not picking up the engine speed which i think on this vehicle it reads from the ECU ,so i do feel for this sort of fault you will need the dealer diagnostic software for this and maybe even a new ECU ,best advice clear the fault light and take it to a garage and trade it in quick ,Maybe even a nice VW diesel with 70 MPG or dare i mention it a citreon or a skoda diesel manual gearbox then this sort of fault wouldnt bother a manual gearbox as your in control

ecu in gear box is faulty need to replace ecu and change gear box oil

half way-level- on front or side of gearbox,think its on the fifth gear housing behind wheel arch on this model ,round plug with a square drive in centre

aftermarket trailer hitch sometimes will cause this, are your front (yellow) running lights out too?

hi there, needs to be the same number. computers need to match. tourque converters are different from 2.0/2.2 to the 2.5 engines. also shift points are different between models so needs to talk to the dash perfectly. hope this helps.
