There are a number of shift solenoids in a transmission so unless the mechanic was specific as to what ratio is involved , it will be a case of replacing the wrong one
A lot of the time ,harsh shifting is from dirty oil and or oil pressure problems
May be it would be best if you went to an auto transmission specialist shop for a fault code reading and a proper diagnosis

SOURCE: where is the shift solenoid located on a 2003 dodge neon sxt

the trans shift solenoid pack is bolted to the side of the trans closer to the radiator. it is rather large and there are three 10mm bolts holding it to the trans. it is under the input speed sensor and just under the spot where the cooler lines go into the trans.

SOURCE: I need to know where the TCM is & Shift Solenoid "C"on 04 Kia Rio

The TCM is stuffed up in the drivers side dash just left of the steering column on this disposable vehicle. There are 2 modules there. One is a pcm and the other is a tcm. The onewith the large single black plug is the TCM.

SOURCE: Location of Shift Solenoid in 1999 Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer?

They are round "cans" with wires attached. You should have SSA, SSB, SSC, Torque converter and Pressure Control solenoids. They control pressures and have no mechanical linkage.

SOURCE: trouble with the transmission solenoid

USUALLY A SHIFT SOLENOID DTC IS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THE TRANS SOLENOID PACK ASSEMBLY..LOCATED ON OUTSIDE OF TRANSMISSION..YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WHEN CHANGING PACK..CLEAN ALL DIRT/DEBRIS FROM OUTSIDE OF PACK..YOU DON'T WANT ANY DIRT TO ENTER TRANSMISSION..SOLENOID IS A SMALL BOX LOCATED ON SIDE OF TRANS FACING FRONT OF VEHICLE..YOU MUST REMOVE TRANS COOLER LINE HOSES FROM FITTINGS ON TRANS..REMOVE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..UNPLUG PACK..8MM SCREW HOLDS IT..3 BOLTS HOLD PACK TO TRANS..YOU MUST CLEAN ALL GASKET RESIDUE THOROUGHLY BEFORE INSTALLING PACK..I'D RECOMMEND GETTING SOMEONE WHO HAS DONE THIS BEFORE IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE DOING THIS..I HOPE THIS HELPS

Where is the location of the 2012 Chevy impala shift solenoid

The shift solenoid on a 2012 Chevrolet Impala is located inside the transmission. It is typically located near the top of the transmission, near the shift lever. In order to access the shift solenoid, you will need to lift the vehicle and remove the transmission pan. The shift solenoid is usually mounted on the side of the transmission and is connected to the transmission control module or the transmission valve body.

It is important to note that the location of the shift solenoid can vary depending on the specific model and year of your Chevrolet Impala. If you are not familiar with automotive repair and are unsure how to locate the shift solenoid, it is recommended that you seek the help of a professional mechanic.

2005 ford focus code P0767 shift solenoid D circuit stuck on

Possible causes - Low transmission fluid level - Dirty transmission fluid - Faulty shift solenoid 'D' valve - Shift solenoid 'D' valve harness or connectors - Shift solenoid 'D' valve circuit is open or shorted
When the a transmission solenoid is stuck on, in most cases the problem is not the electrical part of the solenoid; the problem is foreign material obstructing the mechanical function of the solenoid or the flow of the fluid through the transmission valve body. If the transmission fluid is very dirty, it is recommend changing the transmission fluid and if possible removing the transmission pan for further diagnosis. Excessive debris or metal particles on the transmission pan could be an indication that there is a transmission mechanical failure and that the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced

I have a 1994 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with an automatic transmission. I get an intermittent service light and a P0029 code is referenced. When this happens the car seems shift harshly. I thought P0029 is...

It's an exhaust valve inside the transmission, when the solenoid isn't working right, the pressurized fluid can't exhaust through the passages, which can cause rough shifting. It has to be taken to a transmission shop, the transmission pan has to be dropped and possibly the valve body to get at the solenoid. Hope this helped.

Sounds like you need the updated engine computer for harsh shifting. Look up under the glove box at the computer. Number should be 89661-02K21 if not, you need the update. It is an 8/80 warranty item.
