Installing a Dual XDVD276 radio in a 2005 Chevy Impala without the factory end of the wiring harness.

I'm trying to install an after market radio (Dual XDVD276) in a 2005 Chevy Impala. The factory female plug of the wiring harness has been removed. (Not by me) How do I connect the radio to the car without the female plug to connect to the male connector on the back of the radio?

You will need to splice the wires as it will be hard to find the right connector to attach to the harness wires. Use the wiring diagram for the car (get it at Alldatadiy.com) and the one that came with the Dual unit to figure out which wires connect to each other.

SOURCE: installing after market stereo

Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!

Sincerely,

JC

SOURCE: how can i install an amplifier in my honda accord

By using an amplifier with "HI INPUT" jack. You would use the signal from the actual car speaker wires. just tap into them and extend it to the amp input signal. I would recommend a SONY amp that's cheap and reliable. You can get one 800-100watts from ebay or walmart for about 100 dollars. Get a amp wiring kit and you are good to go. Contact if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA.

SOURCE: I am trying to remove the center console of a 2003

There are 2 10mm bolts in the compartment hold of the center console that must be removed. Two similar 10 mm bolts must be removed at the front of the center console, near the driver's and passenger's lower legs. The top of the center console, where the shifter is located, snaps out. With this top piece removed, the cigarette and auxilary outlet can be disconnected. Four more bolts near the shifter bracket need to be removed, and then the console is free. Hope this helps someone. I needed to remove the center console to install a component for a car stereo.

What's a good after market radio for a 2005 impala

there are 100's of replacement radios for vehicles, what you need to keep in mind is,,, if your factory radio has the vehicle info on the radio screen, its connected to the computer and all that goes along with it, I have an 02 Malibu, and had a new radio installed, But they had to route wiring to the trunk, ( thats where they put the factory radio and wired it in ) so that all my factory functions still worked, I was a little displeased with Chevy for having this attached to a radio, and since the CD player stopped working in the original, I was able to purchase a new radio, amp , and have it and the old one installed , rewired, and it still cost me less than Chevy wanted for a replacement of the old radio, Just due to the CD not working, so be sure and check around when looking for a replacement,

I'm not a stereo person, I'm a wire chaser. I looked at wiring for your sound system w/o amplifier in database. Did you check radio fuse for voltage, use a test light, hot all the time. The radio also has to have ground, ground wires are usually black. Did the after market radio come with instructions? Some radios have an anti-theft lock out, if that is the problem I can't help you. Your radio manufacturer may have a web site where you can ask questions? Just to add, the12volt.com
has installer info. It's interesting.

I had the same issue. You have to run the red power wire to a suitable 10 amp fuse in the fuse panel. Just remember that when you look for fuses, you connect to one that is not "hot" at all times. Meaning connect to one that operates off the key only, and not that battery. Good luck

Factory radio main key to ignition switch

The factory radio has nothing to do with a car starting or not starting. You can install any radio that you like in your car as long as it was installed properly there will be no problem. The no start needs to be looked at but don't look at radio for cause. Would need more info on the no start to help there. You should take notes as to conditions when car won't start.
