SOURCE: 1991 gmc sonoma random loss of power

could be the crankshaft sensor causing the timing to be off if it has a coilpack type distributor or if it has a gear driven distributor then it could be either the distributor itself or possibly just cap and rotor

1996 GMC Sonoma SLS 2.2 litre engine starts missing and looses massive power going up hill

This can be caused by anything limiting fuel pressure or ignition spark. Tune up items, bad coil/module, bad fuel pump, filter, relay, bad converter, muffler, dirty air filter, vacuum leak, EGR, or others.

Do the fuel pumps have a high failure rate for gmc sonoma 4.3 1996? it was running great last nite and this a.m. nothing, no noise at pump when turn key, but 8-9 volts on the small square three wire plug...

You should have 12v at that wire.Definitely would check for corroded or loose wiring especially on the ground that runs to the frame on this you are for sure losing enough voltage to cause the pump not to work. If possible try running a jumper wire from the battery to the pump power wire which I think is purple or red and see if your pump will activate.

91 sonoma fuel problems

pump works when supplying power from the keys or other source some is it a new pump ? if is return for a exchange. if not even tho the pump may work when you power it with the key there might not be enough pressure from the pump to push enough fuel to the engine so i advise replacing it
