Possible the vacuum bleed-off to the switch you installed isn't allowing it to completely disengage. Pull the bleed-off line from the new switch and see if it works. could be just a tight spot/bent closed in the bleed-off line or the vent plugged.

Easiest place to start is checking for a broken control knob. Pull the knob off and see if it is cracked/broken on the back side. You can turn the metal control rod then by hand to see if it works. If no problem found there, you will have to check for a blend door motor/actuator that controls heat/cooling attached to the heater box under the dash for proper operation

this indicates a problem battery (have a load test done on it) , drive belt adjustment or condition or problem alternator out put with the head lights on there is insufficient capacity from the battery and/or alternator to keep everything running as it should
