I manually adjusted my brake pedal on a 2004 expedition. After testing the brake lights would not go out. I replaced the brake switch and now the brake lights will not come on. What do you think?

It appears that your adjustment of the brake pedal is the problem
if you adjusted it down , of course the lights will stay on
if you did not adjust the brake switch position correctly on replacing the switch of course the lights will not come on
the brake pedal should have about 1" movement before the brake rod pushes on the m/cyl piston or booster rod
you have to adjust the switch position to operate in the free play distance

Where is the fuse for brake lights on 97 Ford expedition

looks like its inside the expedition, could be near the left side above the brake pedal, OR, could be on the far left side of the between the door and the dashboard (left side being drivers side) hope it helps. IF its not the fuse, i attached a link to a youtube video that may be beneficial.

2009 SEDONA, CRUISE CONTROL IN-OP. ESC LIGHT ON/OFF. CODES STATED BRAKE LIGHT SWICH. CORRECTED ESC LIGHT CRUISE STILL NOT WORKING. ALL FUSES GOOD. REPALCED TPS, TEST CRUISE SWITCH, GOOD. TESTED CURRENT...

There are two switches on the brake pedal, one for brake light, and one that kicks out the cruise when you hit the brake. That switch is closed when depressed (ie; brake pedal is up) and opens when pedal is pushed away from the switch, (unlike the brake light switch which closes when the pedal is pushed). This means it must be positioned and adjusted correctly for cruise to work.

I have a 2002 Ford Expedition and the brake light will not turn off. We do not use the e-brake. can anyone help with this problem?

Your stop light switch has failed. This is the switch operated every time you operate the brake
pedal. This switch fails in one of two ways - always open (brakes lights don't work), or always
closed (brake lights won't turn off).

To replace a stoplight switch, first determine what type of switch you have.

If you have an electrical switch mounted to the brake pedal in the passenger compartment:

* Unplug the wire connector at the back of the switch.
* Unscrew the switch.
* Replace with a new switch. Adjust the adjustment nut as needed.
* Plug the wires back in.

If you have a hydraulic pressure switch that is mounted in the brake master cylinder:

* Mark and disconnect the wires.
* Unscrew the switch.
* Screw the replacement switch in.
* Reconnect the wires.

Brake lights out

check system fuse, check out brake light bulbs, check the brake light switch thats on top backside of brake pedal. it may need replaced or adjusted. Use a test light that is grounded and with the key in the "on" position test for power at one side (wire) of the switch, then press the brake pedal while testing the opposite side (wire). It should illuminate the test light, if electrical power is connected through the switch go to the next step. If no power is detected through the switch the brake light switch has failed and replacement is required. If your car is equipped with more than two wires integrated into the brake light switch a car repair manual is needed to locate the proper brake light circuit wiring.

3.5s v6 2004 nissan quest. brake lights not working.Already check fuse. kish.

First, replace bulbs and then check brake light switch, which is located near the top of the brake pedal. Use a voltimeter or test light to verify that there's voltage at the switch connector. It's not bad idea to replace brake light switch. Also make sure the brake pedal is correctly adjusted.

2004 Mustang gets locked in Park

The brake pedal switch will casue both these issues. Are you sure the switch is good? You can test it with a multimeter. Remove the switch. When it's removed the switch will be in the closed position. When you adjust it, you want to hear the switch click right after you depress the pedal. Adjust it so the switch doesn't click until you begin pressing the pedal. Good luck.

1999 ford expedition brake lights stuck on even when headlights are off.

Hi my name is Juan and lets try to solve this it looks like your brake switch got stock look under the brake pedal there is a switch that makes contact with the brake pedal every time you press on it to check and see if the switch is bad disconnect the plastic connector to it it has 2 wires if your lights go off then is time to replace this switch you can do this your self and save some money it just treads in just make sure to adjusted so it can turn your light on with small amount of pressure to the brake pedal

Bulbs and fuses good no brake lights 2002 ford expedition 2002

above the brake pedal is mounted a brake light switch. with a grounded test light, test for voltage at one wire in to the switch and when the pedal is depressed you should have another wire become live sending current to the rear bulbs.
