Would code P084A for a transmission fluid pressure sensor require an $8000 transmission replacement for a 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander?

No they are crooks! The genuine part from Mitsubishi is $120 and it looks like you could do it yourself.

Where is the transmission fluid pressure sensor? The pump pressure switch is located on the transmission housing next to the pump. The switch lets the computer know what the pressure is coming from the pump when the engine is running. The servo pressure switch is located on the housing near a band or servo in the transmission.

Transmission over temp light comes on. transmission works fine but once went into limp mode

have a pressure test done on the box to check for internal faults. Any high pressure leaks will cause heat. check the filter and while the pan is off adjust the bands and clutch packs . Check the radiator cores are not blocked as engine temperature will affect the transmission oil temperature . check oil level as extra oil will cause frothing and over heating.

What trasmition oil do this car use

Your transmission requires a special fluid. DIA QUEEN CVTF-J1
You can save yourself some time and go directly to the Mitsubishi dealer. You may hear alot of "recommended" replacements for the OEM fluid. With that CVT transmission, I recommend that you stay with OEM fluid.

Good Luck
