SOURCE: 03 ponitac grand am would not start 2 different

Failure-to-start scenarios are often an issue of "fuel or spark?"

To check fuel pump, install a fuel pressure gauge on the Shrader valve connector on the
fuel rail, reading ???? - I couldn't find the spec for nominal fuel pressure.....

One good source of diagnostic info is your car's computer - commect an OBD-II code
reader to your car's OBD-II port and ask the car what it thinks it wrong - its capable of
posting 100s of possible error codes, any number of which would/could implicate a fuel
system component. Here a (very) short list of possible computer codes your car's computer
may currently be posting:

error code meaning
--------------- -------------
P0107 MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor - low input (to computer)
P0108 MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor - high input (to computer)
P0122 TP (throttle position) sensor - low input (to computer)
P0123 TP (throttle position) sensor - high input (to computer)
P0171 fuel system lean
P0172 fuel system rich
P0201 fuel injector 1 control circuit malfunction
P0202 fuel injector 2 control circuit malfunction
P0203 fuel injector 3 control circuit malfunction
P0204 fuel injector 4 control circuit malfunction
P0300 multiple engine misfire detected
P0301 cylinder 1 misfire detected
P0302 cylinder 2 misfire detected
P0303 cylinder 3 misfire detected
P0304 cylinder 4 misfire detected
P0336 CPS (crankshaft position sensor) range/performance
P06xx control module (computer) failure

SOURCE: 2006 Hummer H3 intermittenly wont start. Have to

Hi, my research on this issue has turned up phantom causes as sticking valves, ignition switch and seat movement.
On some Hummer, it turns out to be sticky valves in the head. GM replaced the head under warranty and the hummer haven't had any more trouble out of it. There is a recall for the 2006/2007 5 cylinder models and you should be able to have this taken care of at no cost.
Do you have a remote start? The H3 Bypass module has an issue with Remote Start. When this happens to you must wait 10 full minutes before trying to start it again (DONT USE REMOTE, USE THE KEY) the bypass module takes 10 minutes to get out of "theft mode" this is in your manual as well, I forgot what page. The only way to get this to full proof work is to get a shop to "OLD SCHOOL" wire around the bypass module.

SOURCE: Replaced stock bcm with used.

A used body control can be used in a vehicle other than the vehicle it was installed in. the body control module when first installed is programmed with the vehicle vin number. the vin number can not be changed was it was written to the BCM. the oprions can be always change in the BCM but not the VIN number. basically the used bcm you have installed has the vin number from the vehicle was installed in, now the vin number in the used BCM doesnt match all the other control modules

SOURCE: My GMC sierra starts and dies in 1 second but

GM's are known for possessing faulty antitheft systems. When these systems being to fail, the antitheft misinterprets the failure as an attempt to steal the vehicle. The system then shuts off the injectors. The system resets after 10 minutes exactly. As the fault gets worse, this will happen more often. Next time this happens, note any lights that illuminate on the dash area. If you see one that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT, this is most likely the problem. This link will help you.

Ran out of gas.. Where is the fuel pump shut off switch located?

Fuel pump only runs on "Crank" or after the engine has started to run. Having put gas in the tank you should only have to crank a bit, 10 seconds at a time, 30 seconds wait, until the system refills. If you are talking about diesel then that's a whole different ball game.

How to rekey a pontiac sunfire 2004

Im assuming you are refering to the anti theft security key relearn process.

1. Perform a security system relearn.
2. Let the vehicle sit for more than 10 minutes with the key off.
3. Attempt to start the engine, leave the key in the run position monitoring the security system indicator.
4. After 10 minutes, the security indicator will change state.
5. Turn the key off and wait 10 seconds.
6. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
7. After the second 10 minute timer has expired, turn the key off for 10 seconds.
8. Attempt to start the engine. If the engine stalls, wait another 10 minutes with the key on.
9. After the 3rd 10 minute timer has expired, shut the key off for 10 seconds.
10. The security system will relearn on the 4th starting attempt and the engine should start and run.

1998 Ford Windstar Minivan: 1. I sometimes get an extended crank when trying to start engine after I've made a short trip. 2. My interior lights won't go out after I turn the engine off, so I...

YOU MAY HAVE A BAD DOOR AJAR SWITCH. HOWEVER, YO HAVE A TIMER THAT SHUTS OFF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS AFTER 300 MINUTES. IT'S CALLED A BATTERY SAVER FEATURE. TEST IT OUT.

THE EXTENDED CRANK MAY BE A CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL PUMP IN THE TANK, ALLOWING PRESSURE TO DROP WHEN YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF.
OR A BAD FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR ON THE ENGIEN FUEL RAIL.

TRY THIS TEST, TURN KEY TO "ON" POSITION, WAIT 5 SECONDS, SHUT OFF KEY FOR 30 SECONDS. TURN KEY ON, WAIT 5 SECONDS, THEN START ENGINE. IF IT STARTS RIGHT UP, YOU ARE LOSING FUEL PRESSURE WITH ENGINE OFF.

THIS BUILDS UP PRESSURE IF IT DROPPED DURING SHUT DOWN.
REPORT TEST RESULTS.

Mazda rx8 flooded .brakedown come tried to start engine turned over !then starter got hot ,now dosnt turn over just clicks? any wdvice please

Your problem is common in the RX-8. It occurs when you start a cold engine and shut it off before it reaches normal operating temperature. If your car does flood, you can first try depressing the accelerator completely and holding it (which shuts off the fuel pump) and then crank the motor for about 10 seconds (not longer or you may damage your starter). If this procedure above does not work, here is the technique a Mazda dealership will normally use (to be performed at your own risk): 1. Use jumper cables to connect to another car battery. 2. Unplug Air pump connector (the black circular motor housing to the left of the oil filler cap) 3. Take fuel pump fuse out (number 22, a 20 amp, 3 from the top of the second column of the fuse box 4. Crank for 4 seconds, pause for 2 seconds, repeat for about a minute 5. Leave for a minute 6. Crank for 4 seconds, pause for 2 seconds, repeat for about a minute 7. Put fuel pump fuse back in 8. Crank for up to 10 seconds, if it catches but doesn?t start, stop cranking 9. If not started go back to step 3 10. If started, wait 30 seconds for oil pressure to rise 11. Stand on throttle until white smoke stops coming out of the exhaust 12. Disconnect jump leads 13. Leave to warm up on idle for a few minutes 14. Put air pump connector back on (see note 3) 15. Go for a nice long drive to recharge the battery

After flat tire, tire pressure warning will not go out even after making sure pressure is at 44psi. How do I reset dash?

44PSI?? is that what your car recommends...

1. check and make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure

2. turn the ignition switch to the ON position. If the low tire pressure warning light comes on, push and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch (think the switch is in the glovebox, but not sure) until the warning light turns off and then release the switch.

3. now press and hold the tire pressure warning reset switch until the low tire pressure warning light blinks three times.
